A Study On The Survival Situation And Communication Forms Of Oingcheng Wushu In China

Using such methods as in-depth interview, participant observation and field-work, this research examines the survival and communication situation of Qingcheng Wushu and produces an ecological picture of the survival and communication of Folk Wushu.Two years of research leads to the following findings:Firstly, Qingcheng Wushu has a long history, unique in style and rich in cultural connotation. Now, the group of Suibin Liu and that of Daojun He are the most important forces to develop Qingcheng Wushu. The two groups are samples of Folk Wushu development.Secondly, Folk Wushu is a resource within the current social context. It has an interaction with the local politics, economy and culture. In the local cultural construction, Folk Wushu plays an important part in creating local cultural brand, enriching local cultural connotation, and improving the image of the local place. Folk Wushu is a new means to enhance the local economy. The development of Folk Wushu is in accordance with the common interest to the folk society, the local government and the mass media.Thirdly, "sectarian bias" still prevails in Folk Wushu. The main conflict and contradiction in Qingcheng Wushu is "the struggle for leadership" and "the identity crisis". The master-apprentice succession and organizational succession are the main forms of transmission for Qingcheng Wushu. Now, the succession is not ideal and Qingcheng Wushu is trapped in trouble.Forthly, the communication of Folk Wushu takes on various forms. Mass communication is the main driving force and communication form of Folk Wushu. Mass communication has participated in the construction of Folk Wushu culture. It is mass communication that improves Suibin Liu's popularity and influence, and lifts him from Sichuan onto the international market. Mass communication has made Suibin Liu different from Daojun He in the survival situation. Due to the influence of education, media experiences, social recourses and development notion, Suibin Liu and Daojun He have formed two different patterns of developing Wushu.Fifthly, at the bases of economy, culture, power and system, Qingcheng Wushu got the development. By creating the economic benefits, the survival of Qingcheng Wushu to be possible. Through attach to the Chinese culture and the regional culture, close the relationship with the local government, the Qingcheng Wushu developed the survival space. The distinctive heritage system made the Folk Wushu construct the staggered three-dimensional transmission context.
