The social history survey, with big scale, heavy participation and deep impact being rare in the world, was conducted in the 50 years of 20 century,is China's great event. meanwhile, the survey is lacking in the studies from anthropology and ethnology pespectives.Based on the social history survey and reflection this survey,this dessertation studies the China's contemporary history of ethnology and anthropology,including the background and the process the social history survey, analyzing the texts of this survey, reconstructing the oral history,etc.to explore the varieties of complex historical context behind this events.This dessertation's discussion is from the following dimensions:Firstly, reviewing the history of the social history survey to find political and academics have a delicate relationships in the Chinese context,Chinese traditional culture of "statecraft " and "knowledge & practice"thoughts leads scholars are willing to cooperate and to achieve their own academic ideals in the face of political power, resulting in China pragmatism color in anthropology and related disciplines.Secondly, Analyzing the field-works of the social history survey based on this survey in the whole process,and the analysis of this field work mode, this dissertation points that the existence of a variety of power in this survey, with the Chinese people's characteristics effectiveness.Thirdly, analyzing the ethnography texts of the social history survey and the Chinese Minority science documentary of Social History, this dissertation points out that these "ethnographiies as the means to the pursuit of records of Chinese minorities social history and culture, creating a "national"image, strengthening and gradually building the "national identity"Lastly, analyzing the oral materials. this dissertation finds that,as the author's field, how the old experts described the history of the past and present reflects the narratives of its significance. with experience and academic career in life, explaining how this community is formed.
