The concept of using competitive sports to develop elite education is root in ancient Greece. But in China, because the history, complex reasons, competition sports and elite education is gradually separate, and further away from each other. The results of it is the elite education only pay attention to knowledge training, but ignore the competitive sports play an important role in the elite personalities training which are more important in elite education.Through the scopes of philosophy and pedagogy, this dissertation attempts to analyze the relationship between competitive sports and elite education and tries to provide the theoretical point for elite education reforms as well as scientifically and entirely grasp the educational value of competitive sports.This study regards elite education and competitive sports as its main objects. It regards the application of competitive sports on the process of elite education as researching cut-in point and uses several kinds of methods synthetically such as the historic research, phenomenological hermeneutics and the theoretic research and tries to make the whole relationship between the elite education and competitive sports become clear and rational. It has four sections as follows:The first part is mainly about the definition of elite and the elite education from the perspective of post-modernity and puts forward that the competitive sports should show its rationality in a good few fields in elite education which is now in the crisis of the identity. The second part, from the analysis of the histories of sports and its etymology, its educational values are discussed intending to point out its way forward in the context of elite education. The third part, through the comprehensive systematical inspecting the changing trace of competitive sports and elite education in the history of the West from the layers of theory and practice, the author believes that their relationship can approximately be divided into3periods:non-formal period, formal period and systemized period. In the fourth part, it needs to distinguish the differences between competitive sports and physical education when examine its educational values from the educational angle.
