Feedback type and attentional focus are two important variables on motor learning. Based on the practice of the football teaching, this paper was to apply the method of literature review, meta-analysis, experimentation and mathematical statistics to investigate the research findings examining the effects of augmented feedback of attentional focus on motor learning.First, this study examined the effects of attentional focus on motor learning by a meta-analysis. The findings suggest that:(1) motor learning was more beneficial with external mode of attentional focus than internal mode of attentional focus.(2) But external attentional focus has no advantages on the motor learning comparing with the control group, so there are lots of studies that should be done in future to investigate whether the external attentional focus is better than the control condition without the instruction or feedback of attentional focus on motor learning.Second, in order to explore the effects of augmented feedback of attentional focus on football motor learning, we conducted the experiment of computer simulation of non-football professional college students, and the task is imaged ball catching. The findings suggest like the acquisition results, motor learning was more beneficent with external mode of attentional focus. But unlike the acquisition results, prescriptive feedback didn't facilitate motor learning on the retention test. Diminishing effect of prescriptive feedback on learning might suggest that subjects develop a dependency on this type of feedback for this imaged ball catching task. When the feedback was withheld on the retention, subjects would have difficulty to recall the strategy to minimize movement errors for the task dominated with perception and cognitive strategy.Third, to test the result of computer simulation that whether can be applied to the open motor skill of football, we conducted anther experiment on learning opentfootball skill for beginners. The findings suggest that because of the nature of two experiments'tasks, there are some differences in results between the experiment of computer simulation and learning open football skill. In the acquisition and retention of learning football skill, external attentional focus or prescriptive feedback can improve the better performance for beginner, and the combination of external attentional focus and Prescriptive Feedback has generated best effects on learning football skill under four different experiment conditions. From the performance of transfer test, we suggest that sport teacher or coach have to pay much attention on the design of the way to practice on teaching or training motor skill to enhance the learner's ability of applying the motor skill in practice. The above studies suggest that:(1) the effects of external attentional Focus is more beneficial on the imaged ball catching performance relative to internal attentional focus in the task dominated with perception and cognitive strategy. But we should use the right feedback type according to the nature of the task.(2) To improve the beginner's performance, we should use external attentioanal focus or prescriptive feedback or the combination of external attentional focus and Prescriptive Feedback on the open motor skill.
