In order to do a good job of studying the Sinicization of Marxism, we deem itnecessary to stick to the principle of combining theory with practice and focusgreat efforts on "combination". This point of view motivated me to choose thetopic of "Examination Reform Against the Backgroung of Quality Education".Quality education is the crystallization of Marxist theory on quality education incombination with Chinese practice, and is the due obligation of the education ofthe Chinese Communist Party. In the past eighty and more years the educationwork led by the Chinese Communist Party has always persisted in the chiefpurpose of raising the spiritual and cultural quality of the whole nation and thequality of productive labour and the need of revolutionary construction. In the newhistorical period, the third-generation collective leadership attaches greatimportance to the students' idelogical ethics, culture and science, labour skills andsoundness in body and mind, all-sidedly spur quality education. As examination isan important component part of and a key link in the process of quality education,reform in examination plays a decisive role in the course of adjusting the goal ofquality education to the performance of quality education. The study ofexamination reform will theoretically further clarify the concept about examinationand find a breakthrough point in examination for the solution of contradictionsbetween elementary education and higher education, between knowledge andquality, and between knowledge accumulation by individuals and socializedabilities, thus providing advisory suggestions for the creation of examinationtheories and systems. In practice such studies will help set up a whole relativelysteady examination system in complete agreement with the reforms in educationand teaching, and make use of the double-edged sword of examination to promotequality education.There are subjective and objective arguments for the occurrence and development of examination under conditions of quality education. Some of these arguments are derived from the innate law of education development, and some others reflect the objective demand of the world-wide trend for the development of quality education. In the past decade and more the principles and policies of the Party's quality education help expand the development area of examination reform and provide it with a platform for operation.Quality education emphasizes its orientation towards all the students, improve the comprehensive quality of the students in an all-round way, stresses the full development of wisdom, potentialities and individual character of the students. It has in itself the intrinsic character of fundamentality, intrinsicality, dominance, comprehensiveness and creativeness. However, reform in examination does not mean the abolition of examination. It requires that examination be reformed in accordance with the inward demand of quality education, enabling the purposes, content, methods and management of examination to move forward along the road of quality education. First, it is necessary to hold a scientific view of examination. Such a new view of examination involves education theories of continuous development, creative education theories and education ideas of comprehensive development, democratic education ideas and the education idea of lifelong education (learning). It requires the students to be the main body, takes the regulative selection function as the guiding function, having the evaluative selection function, tries to produce variety and flexibility in examination in form and method. Secondly, it is necessary to define the reasonable content of examination. The quality structure of personnel is the foundation for the determination of examination content.
