With the improvement of the living standard and the development of medical science, the people's life expectancy becomes longer and longer in China. Meanwhile, the birth rate is rapidly decreasing owing to the implementation of family planning policy. Largely because of these factors above, the population structure in China is increasingly aging and the number of the aged over 80 is quickly increasing. Aging brings about a basic social problem, namely how to satisfy old people' special need, to solve which, most of aged and aging-countries is developing aging industry. The situation of China's population structure both calls up the appearance of aging industry and lays comparative basis for it. However, there are many issues and misunderstandings on aging industry and its developing foreground in China. Moreover, there appear lots of problems in the process of development of China's aging industry. So it's necessary to study the theories and policies of China's aging industry.There are eight parts in the article. The contents of each part are as follows: introduction (which involves the research background, the research methods, the key contents, the research purposes); the basic theories (which chiefly deal with most issues on the basic theories of industry and aging industry); the analyses of the factors impacting on the development of aging industry (the discussion expands from external sides to internal sides); the prediction of aging industry (using the latest population data);old people's consuming characteristic and the strategies of developing aging industry; the situation, problems and reasons of China's aging industry; the experiences in developed countries and some suggestions about policiesIn view of many issues on aging industry in academic and political fields, the highpoints of the research focus on these aspects: theoretically, the research particularly emphasizes the analyses of the concepts of aging industry and influencing factors; practically, the research stresses the problems and reasons in the process of development of aging industry, meanwhile, puts forward some suggestion about the policies of developing aging industry. The followings are the key points of the research.The concepts of aging industry. Up to the present, there are four basic notions on the connotation of aging industry: A, aging industry is just the service sector which only serves old people; B, it is the concourse of all bodies that mainly serve the old in secondary industry, tertiary industry and quaternary industry; C, aging industry includes the corporations which mainly supply products and services for old people in all four industries; D, aging industry is composed of all the corporations that mainly satisfy old people' all kinds of special need including the need of employment (so, the Economic- body-for-the aged is one of them).The same point in the notions above is emphasizing the object of service is old people, and the main difference is each notion has a different extension . On basis of the agreements on aging industry, the background of aging industry and the meaning of industry, in this research, aging industry means an industry system, which specially serves old people, which includes all the economic bodies for economic profit thatchiefly supply product, service, and employment opportunities for old people.In the research, aging industry is characterized by three points: A, particularity, namely, the service of aging industry chiefly aim at old people; B, comprehensive, that is, which is both a great industry system covering four sub- industries and a big integrative market system comprising many sub-markets special serving old people. C, narrow profit, which means, that the average profit of single product or service of the corporations in aging industry is usually lower than that in other industry.
