Knowledge is the driving force for business and social innovation and progress. It produces series of influences for organization to keeping up with this advancement of knowledge. It also challenges the Academic Institution/Universities, which often have strong social responsibilities and just experienced transaction from peripheral to mainstream. In this knowledge society, the traditional management is not able to meet the demand of the development. Knowledge Management thus should be considered as a new model of management for this development.Knowledge management initially belongs to the area of Business Administration (corporation management), but it is not purely restricted to Business Management only. Knowledge Management principle and techniques should also apply to the Academic Institutions for the organization, distribution of knowledge resources, to better promote the organizational goals of the universities. This paper tries to address the many challenges that put knowledge management to practical usage, then further describes the techniques used by knowledge management to deal with and find solutions to those challenges. It will further unfold the discussion on the university, knowledge workers, knowledge managers, university organization and leadership reforms.Chapter 1: Contents and Characteristics of the Knowledge Society and the influence on the universities and its management. Author will further discuss the new role of the universities in the Knowledge society. Whether the present management style can meet the requirement of the current knowledge oriented society; Whether there are different factors that restrict the proper development of the university management that has to be looked into.Chapter 2: Discussion of the past, present and future development and achievement of knowledge management; thus set up the foundation of the knowledge management for the university organization.Chapter 3: Detailed discussion on the contents and mission of the University Knowledge Management. This includes the purpose, contents, core and characters of the University knowledge Management and the contrast and comparison between university Knowledge Management and Business Management. From this discussion, author tries to reveal that the University Knowledge Management is a challenge to the knowledge society, is an innovation for university level management. The current research on the university knowledge is a key to maintain the compatibility and ensuring the success of the universities in the future innovation of the knowledge management techniques. The introduction of the knowledge management provides the strong stimulation to the development of higher education management theoretical framework and knowledge management theoretical framework.Chapter 4: Historical review on the concept Knowledge. In Depth understandingon the university oriented profound/ Esoteric knowledge. It brings out the basic strategies of the university knowledge management, which including aquiring knowledge in a multi-layer fashion, simplification and concentration of knowledge data storage, knowledge sharing in the broadest sense and innovation of new knowledge in a spiraling pattern.Chapter 5: The role and characteristics of the University knowledge workers and how to manage those operators according to the mentioned characteristics. Moreover, from the discussion on the roles and responsibilities of the knowledge managers and middle level management, it appears that the managers of the higher education knowledge management can not lack of. University managers need to become the innovative knowledge management professionals who should provide the management skills of obtaining, storage, sharing, reinvention and rediscovery of knowledge.Chapter 6: Discussion on the reforms of university organization and leadership.
