The broad sense definition of teaching means a kind of teaching -learning activities between the teachers and students, while the narrow sense definition of teaching implies the teachers' teaching activities which arouse, maintain and promote students to learn. On the basis of the comprehension to the narrow sense definition of teaching, the definition of the effective teaching in this dissertation is as follows: the teachers arouse, maintain and advance the students' learning successfully through the reasonable teaching process, and achieve the expected teaching effectiveness effectively comparatively. On the former study of both the theoretical and empirical research of the effective teaching domestically and abroad, the article carries out the significance, plan and method of the effective teaching research, besides, the article dissertates the theory of the effective teaching and expatiates the development of the ideas on the effective teaching, then analyses the actual situations of the effective teaching among the primary school teachers and the middle school teachers, at last the paper discusses the strategies of the effective teaching.The effective teaching research can enrich the domestic teaching theory, and provide the references not only for the schools for becoming the effective or excellent schools, but also for the schools' improving teaching quality. The research can improve the teachers' recognition of the effective teaching and offer some help of it.The effective teaching research inherits and deepens the former study of the theoretical and empirical research of the effective teaching domestic and abroad, and insists on the combination of theoretical research and empirical research. The methods used in the research are as follows: literature review, historical method, logical method, genetic method, system scientific method, questionnaire inquire method and statistical analysis method.The effective teaching has four implications. The first one, the effective teaching is reasonable, it has optimized the teaching factors such as the teacher, the student, teaching environment and teaching content. And it has made the teaching contents, teaching activities organization and teaching methods reasonable. The second one, the effective teaching is of good effect, it has improved the students' learning, especially has improved the student's progress and development. The third one, it is beneficial, the student's progress and development accord with the education requirement of the society and the students individual .The fourth one, it is of efficiency, comparing with the teaching investment of the teachers, the students' progress and development are utmost and ideal. The teaching that is against the teaching law, non-effective, of negative effect or low effective is not the effective teaching. The effective teaching have the extrusive characteristics that are unique signs or symbols which can differ from the teaching that is non-effective, of negative effect or low effective. The characteristics are as follows: the first one, right goal, which points not only to the student's progress and development but also to the overall progress and development of the cognition, feelings and behavior. The second one, adequate preparation, on the basis of the deepstudy of the students and teaching content, constituting the appropriate teaching plans that including the teaching aim and requirement, the organization of teaching activities, teaching methods, the option of teaching strategies, the evaluation of teaching effect and so on. The third one is to organize scientifically. The organization of teaching assures the reasonable and scientific nature of the teaching content, teaching activities, teaching strategies, teaching orders and so on. The fourth one, clear and intelligible, which means the teacher can teach the teaching content clearly and make the student understand correctly, master firmly and apply or transfer fluently about the content.
