The dissertation is based on critical thoughts about the skilloriented children's art education, which is the result of Rationalism Era. To highlight the true nature of children's art education and to achieve its humane orientation, the dissertation first reviews the history of children's art education both at home and abroad and points out that the root of children's art education dissimilation is the loss of art spirit. The paper then illustrates, from the perspectives of modern philosophy and art philosophy, the essence of art spirit. In other words, human beings bestow perceptual forms on poetic wisdom and carves out the world of images. Art spirit proves that art is unity between poeticism and materialism. That is why neither the skilloriented nor instrumental children's art education is genuine art education. Through the illustration and analysis of children's art, the dissertation concludes that children express their simple poetic wisdom with born perception of form. Hence, children's art, to some extent, embodies art spirit. The missions of children's art education are to protect the inherent art spirit of children's art on the one hand, and to enrich children's poetic wisdom and to encourage them to create more beautiful images with diverse and harmonious forms of art . In order to recover the lost art spirit, the present dissertation proposes experiential art education. Without experience, human beings will be unlikely to gain poetic wisdom. Without poetic wisdom, art will become insipid and tedious and tend to lose its unique charm and values. Experience constitutes the fundamental form of the artistic state of being, which is presented in artistic creations, art appreciation and art works. Therefore, the aim of experiential art education is to have children and teachers experience the art, to enrich and express their poetic wisdom through real-life experience, to reconstruct the relationship between art and human nature. Consequently, art education will restore his humane and poetic nature.
