In current world, in which science and technology development is accelerating; global industrial restructuring presents strong trend; the process of economic globalization is developing at accelerating pace; new economic mode is emerging; market economy is developing towards a in-depth dimension, Higher Vocational Education (hereafter referred to as HVE)in China, as a special type of higher education, encounters a valuable opportunity and is developing at a fast speed.But HVE in China has a late start and in its process of evolution has met with some problems that affected its healthy growth. The reasons for that are related to failure to design and build curricula in accordance with the requirement of marketability.By marketability of HVE curricula design and building, we mean that market rules, market mechanisms and market regulations lay restraints on HVE curricula design and building. 'Marketability' being the basic attribute of HVE curricula design and building, is formed on the requirement of socio-economic, industrial and educational structures integration.HVE curricula design and building must be adapted to the requirements of labour market and education consumer market. Emphasis on the marketability does not mean that marketability is the only attribute of HVE curricula design and building. As one type of higher education, HVE and its curricula design and building are featured by its public welfare attribute as well. The public welfare attribute of HVE is presented in the 'product'form and in the process of its production. HVE curricula designing and building must be conducted in accordance with the principle of integrating marketability and public welfare.HVE curricula design and building is a combining effort of curriculum developing, setting up, adjusting and courses delivering. It includes such factors as market analysis, curriculum setting up, courses delivering. It also includes skill traing system building, skill training bases building and teaching team building. Among the said factors, market analysis is the premise, curriculum setting up and course delivery are the core, skill training system and training bases building are the foundation, teaching team building is the key. The 4 interactive factors form the dynamic system of curriculum design and building. Focusing on the requirements of marketability, HVE's curriculum setting up, talents training aims and specifications, curriculum systems and course delivery must be adapted to the development of economic and industrial structures, satisfy the requirement of the vocations. Skill practice and skill training bases building must be incorporated into local economies and industries, adopting cooperation between industries and schools. Teaching team building must aim at 'dual qualification'structure, initiating effective teachers training and recruiting mechanism. Only by focusing on the marketability, can HVE training actualize significant shift from school-centered mode to market-centered mode.In view of the marketability of HVE curriculum design and building, some valuable practice has been invented in the course of HVE reforms in some HVE institutions. These inventions include the training mode of 'combining industries, learning institutions and research', the training mode characterized by '3-degree technological competency',KAQ mode that demonstrates overall quality education, Vocational Qualification System and the Evaluation System of HVE Institutions Training Operation Level. Appraising and studying these practical experience will benefit the reform and development of HVE in China.
