Research On Dissertation Quality Management

The dissertation quality reflects the quality of the postgraduate education. The main task of the management of postgraduate education is to assure and improve the dissertation quality. This dissertation deals with the managemnet of the dissertation quality by means of using the theory in the subject areas of pedagogy, management and orgnization behavior, analyses the problems of the management of the dissertation quality in our country, and puts forword to the strategies of resolving the problems.This dissertation includes six chapters:The first chapter is talked about the aim to choose the topic, the present situation of the researches, the research thoughts and methods, and the definition of some key conceptions.The second chapter has analysed the dissertation quality. This chapter points out that the dissertation quality should reflect and satisfy the cultivated quality of postgraduate education, should meet the demands of the knowledge, society and human beings. The dissertation quality contains two aspects, theose are: form and content. The framework, format and the total number of the words constitute the form. In contant, the dissertation quality should have the significant, original, logical and publishable characteristics. Originality is the most important characteristic of the dissertation quality, but the dissertation's different types demand different originality. The dissertation quality is affected by reasearch conditions, the levels of the discipline ,the nature of the postgraduate students and supervisors .Chapter three compares the management models of the dissertation quality in foreign countries, especially in German and America. In German's practice ,the supervisor has the most powers in the management of the dissertation quality, and the university puts the emphases on the outer stage of the dissertation quality. In America's practice, the advising group has the responsibilities in managing the dissertation quality, the university pays attention to the process management. Because of the different developments of the society, economy, science , culture and the history of the postgraduate education, different countries have the different ways in management of the dissertation quality, but these countries poses the resemble characteristics of management, those are: university and its subordinated orgnizations have the power in the management of the dissertation quality, puts the emphases on the management process, etc.Chapter four has analysed the present condition and its problems about themanagement of the dissertation quality in our country. The problems of the managenet of the dissertation qulaity in our country are: the universities' self-domination is insuffient because of the concentrated management of the nation, the national nature of the bestowed degree is apt to result the entrust-and-agency issues; the universities pays more attention to the outer stage than process stage of the management of dissertation quality, puts more emphysis on formulating the regulations but not the monitoring and executing.The theory of the management of dissertation qulaity is discussed in Chapter five, which includs the ideal, the object, the organization, the process and the principle of the qualaity management. In the management ideal of the dissertation quality, the management of the dissertation quality should cultivate the qualified talents. In the management object of the dissertation quality, the managemnt object of the dissertation quality is subordinatde to the cultivating object of postgraduate educationm, the management object of the dissertation quality is to assure and improve the dissertation quality. In the management orgnization of the dissertation quality, the relationship between university and government and the relationship among the management orgnizations of the university should be handled properly.
