In the year 2000, the most concentrated residential area for the Uygur people includes three regions in Southern Xinjiang Autonomous Region, namely, Hotan, qashqar and Aqsu, whose total Uygur population takes 73.87% of the whole ethnic group and whose rural population accounts for 80.44% of their total population. They live in small areas, usually in oases in deserts, following conventional life pattern and being guided by community senses. Demologically speaking, this is reflected by low population flow rate, low male-female ratio, small marriage radii, high early marriage, divorce, and remarriage rates, while in social behaviors, this is reflected by low suicide rate, work division by gender, externality of family possessions, strong inner community identity, face value, and strong religious regards, etc.In the preface, the author makes a survey of relevant researches and proposes a hypothesis based on previous researchers' work and field studies. Actually, many researchers have carried out their research from their own familiar fields or approaches, for example, system of kinship, economic life, housing, etc., however, there are not many articles and monographs on rural Uygur females from the aspect of gender study.
