Enhancing environmental education in middle school is one of the most important propositions of the international environmental education development and research, and associating with existing courses to carry out environmental education is a hard task of our environmental education in middle schools. The problem is: how to achieve environmental education and at the same time achieve regular geography education? How to effect a break-through in strengthening environmental education in middle school through the combination of geography education and environmental education? All these questions are focuses in geography field as well as in environmental education field, and they are pressing and complicated problems at the same time theoretical and practical.The aim of the thesis is to study systematically how to carry out environmental education in geography education in middle schools, as well as the goal, contents, method, and the quality of the teachers in the geography education in middle schools. The character of the thesis is inter-discipline study, framework study, and close to teaching practice. The purpose of the thesis is to put forward some compendious ideas and suggestions to use for reference in later concretely constructing aim system and contents system of environmental education in geography education in middle schools as well as in further studies in teaching methods.The thesis retrospects and comments on situation of studies and development of environmental education both at home and abroad, especially the environmental education in primary and middle schools; makes introduction and analysis on theoretical basis of implementing environmental education in geography education in middle schools; resolves the advantages and characteristics of implementing environmental education in geography education in middle schools from aspects of discipline attributes as well as course peculiarities. The thesis explains and analyzes the orientation of the aim of implementing environmental education in geography education in middle schools from the following three aspects: aim selection, basis and course aim, and aim strategy. The thesis discusses the contents configuration of geography education in middle schools as well as the contents configuration of environmental education in geography education; establishes the basic method and characteristic passes of implementing environmental education in geography education in middle schools; makes theoretic analysis and cases research on teaching plan design of implementing environmental education in geography education in middle schools. Finally, the thesis makes theoretic analysis and diagnoses on the composition and present situation of the environmental awareness quality of geography teachers in middle schools, and studies the direction and the specific ways to improve the environmental awareness quality of geography teachers in middle schools. The main productions of the thesis are:1. Specifying three advantages of implementing environmental education ingeography education in middle schools; putting forward the basic method of implementing environmental education in geography education in middle schools; inducing the four basic functions and four main characteristics of implementing environmental education in geography education in middle schools.
