The environmental education is an important content of the quality-oriented education. Implementing the environmental education is also the requirement form realizing the strategic goal of sustainable development, overall planning living environment and building the harmonious society. As a key course of the environmental education , geography teaching in middle school has a special advantage. This thesis tries to do exploratory research on how to strengthen environmental education in geography teaching of middle school. It is divided into five parts.First, the thesis explains the importance of the environmental education, and introduces the characteristic of the environmental education in foreign middle schools and the current situations of environmental education in domestic middle schools. Thus it proposes its research purpose.Second, after defining the objective of the environment educational in middle school, the thesis makes a concrete analysis of the main problems of the environmental education in middle school and their reasons. And establish subject status of geographical course, in accordance with environment trend of geography course, and the related respects between geography course and environmental education, and so on . Thus it proves that geography course in middle school is a key course of realizing the objective of the environmemtal educational in middle school.Third, analyze in detail the educational contents about environment in the geography textbooks of middle school, determine the objective and tasks of the environmental education in geography teaching of middle school, and form the system of teaching content of the geographical environmental education in middle school.Fourth, using the relevant theories that have been learnt, probe into the methods, principles and routines of implementing the environmental education in geography teaching of middle school, propose the teaching mode which environmental education is permeated in the classroom, that is, "five combining, three optimizing and four main points", put forward the organizing way of combining out-of-class activities with out-of-school activities, and hold the viewpoint that students should experience, observe, investigate, analyze, think and solve the realistic environmental problems in person in the realistic environmental scene, form environmental awareness through the activities, and develop their abilities in environmental behavior.
