Athletes'characteristics of Nerve system and temperament type played an important role in mental training and talent selection towards mental ability. The theoretical research, however, exposed great deficiency compared to its importance, that is to say, the relationship between athletes'skill level and characteristics of nerve system or temperament type has not concluded yet. Therefore, the research into nerve system and temperament type is of great value both in theory and in practice. At present, relevant study generally adopted questionnaire or experiment, both of which had its own limits. Hence, some new method would be offered to further the research of temperament type. In the study, test software of BTL-QZ-V1.1 on temperament type, which used millisecond as measurement unit, could not only mirror the activity of nerve system more exactly but avoid complex operation in the experiment as well. After measuring 10~24 aged students, varied age and gender criterion were established to improve the standardization of this test system. Several conclusions have been drawn as follows:1. There was great difference in gender on excitation, inhabitation, flexibility and stability. With increasing of excitation and inhabitation, flexibility and stability improved. The age of 10-14 was the rapid improvement phrase of nerve system; the age of 14-18 was a tardy improvement phrase; 18 ages above was a stable phrase. Males'characteristics of excitation and inhabitation in nerve system were greater than females'.2. It showed significant difference in flexibility of nerve system among pistol shooters with varied age, that is to say, with the skill improved, flexibility decreased, especially between international masters and other athletes.3. It showed significant difference in flexibility and inhabitation of nerve system among rifle shooters with varied age, which in detail indicated that with inhabitation decreased and motor flexibility with the skill improved; it showed significant difference in inhabitation between international masters and other athletes; significant difference weas showed in motor flexibility between international masters and athletes under the first class.4. Inhibition and flexibility of nerve system has great relevance with grasping and aiming stability respectively. The relevant coefficient ranged from0.6 to 0.8.5. Inhibition and flexibility of nerve system was good predictor towards older rifle shooters; training factor exerted its influence on younger shooters'nerve development.6. Temperament type was related with group, but not with the sport and skill.
