Scientific identification, scientific training and scientific management are the elements of elevating the levels in competitive ability for better performance."Athletics Scientific Identification"is the fundamental of sports. It's the procedures of the recruitment of elite athletics as well as the reasons of training the elite athletics and elevating the levels in competitive ability.Badminton is developed well in Mainland China. Since 1953, started to develop badminton, with 10 years effort , China won the first world champion in 1963 And then kept winning and won the title"kingdom of Badminton"Taiwan hasn't followed up with in these few decades. It is because the research and implementation of the scientific identification in Taiwan is short of ; and the identification in Taiwan is only made by the coaches'experiences and subjective opinions and the athletes'former performance.PurposeThis study, with the project of"Elite Athlete's Scientific Identification of Olympic Games, was to establish Taiwan's elite badminton athletes competitive ability structure model and to explore the differences of athletes between Mainland China and Taiwan ; and to establish the criteria of Taiwan's elite badminton athletes and to promote the levels of Taiwan's athletes.Research Subjects and methodsThe subjects of this research included the athletes of the both sides of Taiwan Straight. The Mainland China athletes ( the players of National Champion Game) were 252 persons (male 133 and female 119) and Taiwan's athletes were 152 persons (male 85 and female 67), Mainland China athletes divided into two groups: elite group (National team athletes )and general group (Non-national team athletes),Taiwan athletes also divided into two groups: elite group(Taiwan representatives and A class athletes),and general group (Non-Taiwan representative and A class athletes ).The methods of this study were: literature review, questionnaire investigation and experiment. With statistics, the findings tell the differences of the athletes'competitive ability between Mainland China and Taiwan; and the competitive ability structure model and the scientific identification indexes system and evaluation criteria of Taiwan's elite badminton athletes. Results and Conclusion1. The Mainland China male athletes are better than the Taiwanese male athletes in the total score of competitive ability and in height, lower limbers 5 seconds peak power, lower limbers 30 seconds average power, standing long jump, specific movements time, and wills these 6 indexes. The Mainland China male elite athletes are better than the Taiwanese male elite athletes in the total score of the competitive ability and in height, lower limbers 5 seconds peak power, lower limbers 30 seconds average power, standing long jump, specific movements time, and wills these 6 indexes. That shows the competitive ability of Taiwanese male elite athletes is between the elite group and the general group of the Mainland China male athletes.2. The Mainland China female athletes are better than the Taiwanese female athletes in the total score of competitive ability and in height, lower limbers 5 seconds peak power, lower limbers 30 seconds average power, standing long jump, specific movements time, and wills these 6 indexes. The Mainland China female elite athletes are better than the Taiwanese female elite athletes in the total score of the competitive ability and in height, Katolay index, lower limbers 5 seconds peak power, standing long jump, specific movements time, strikes/round, active errors/total strikes, these 7 indexes. That shows the competitive ability of Taiwanese female elite athletes is just as the same as the general group of the Mainland China female athletes.3. The Mainland China male elite athletes are significant better than general athletes in Katolay index, upper limbers anaerobic power, lower limbers 5 seconds peak power, lower limbers 30 seconds average power, strikes/round, active errors/total strikes, switch reaction time, and operating thoughts steps these 8 indexes the same as happened in Taiwanese groups. The Mainland China female elite athletes are significant better than general athletes in height, Katolay index, upper limbers anaerobic power, lower limbers 5 seconds peak power, strikes/round, active errors/total strikes, these 6 indexes the same as happened in Taiwanese groups.4. The criteria of the elite athletes under the competitive ability structure model are:(1) The male:height: 1.79 meter; Katolay index: 400gram/cm,;upper limbers anaerobic power: 190watt/kg; lower limbers 5 seconds peak power:10.75watt/kg; lower limbers 30 seconds average power:8.14watt/kg; standing long jump:2.61meters; specific movements time:14.66seconds; strikes/round:8 strikes; active errors/total strikes: 1.29%; switch reaction time: 570 mille-seconds; operating thoughts steps:57steps; wills:192 points; and the type of temperament is sanguine.(2)The female:height: 1.69 meter; Katolay index: 371gram/cm,;upper limbers anaerobic power: 130watt/kg; lower limbers 5 seconds peak power:7.78watt/kg; lower limbers 30 seconds average power:6.23watt/kg; standing long jump:2.21meters; specific movements time:15.68seconds; strikes/round:9 strikes; active errors/total strikes: 1.14%; switch reaction time: 580 mille-seconds; operating thoughts steps:65 steps; wills:189 points; and the type of temperament is sanguine.5. Taiwan's elite badminton athletes identification index systemThe athletes identification index system includes 5 first classification indexes which are anthropometrics, physical function, conditions, mentality, and techniques/ tactics, and 12 second classification indexes which are Katolay index, height, upper limbers anaerobic power, lower limbers 5 seconds peak power, lower limbers 30 seconds average power, standing long jump, specific movements time, strikes/round, active errors/total strikes, switch reaction time, operating thoughts steps, and wills; and this study established the criteria of every single index for Taiwan's elite badminton athletes, and, with this study, the proportion of the evaluation system for Taiwan's elite badminton athletes is found as: physical function: techniques/ tactics: mentality 30%:34%:36%...
