As a common term, "teaching order" is widely used both within and outside the school. However, the usage of the term often stay in daily life, hardly access to academic research field. Since the present literatures on the subject are concentrated on some topics, such as "classroom discipline" and "classroom management", the difference of "teaching order" with those topics are not very clear. "Teaching order" still can't be easily distinguished despite a relatively independent research field.When preparing for doctoral dissertation, I have made a lot of field observations on the state of teaching order in some primary and secondary schools. With "teaching order" as the key word, my doctoral dissertation has described the occurrence and development of the teaching order, as well as teachers' words and deeds on teaching management. Based on those researches, the focus of this study shifts from description to rational inquiry, which try to solve theoretical problems such as the rationality and effectiveness of teaching order, and the conduct codes of teachers and students to coexist. Focus on students' freedom in teaching, especially on their spirits' freedom, the thesis stresses on the educational value of teaching order. That means, teaching order is to protect students to gain more extending and sustainable developments in their spirits and minds, and the evaluation criteria of teaching order is that it should protect students' spirit freedom, and ultimately promote their physical and psychological development comprehensively and freely.Besides the introduction, the thesis consists of four sections with each part focus on "what is teaching order", "students' freedom in teaching", "freedom-orientation of teaching order", and "students' freedom accordance with order". Based on the presentations of teaching order in field observations, the thesis pays more attention to the forms of students' freedom, explores the protection and promotion of students' freedom of body, choice, expression, communication, mind and moral, and surveys some specific issues of teaching order in primary and secondary schools with the light of values of students' freedom.
