This research is on the internal representation of redox reaction concepts, which include three aspects, the forms and types of concept's internal representation, formation mechanism of concept's internal representation, application mechanism of concept's internal representation. This research answers the following questions:(1) What are the forms and types of redox reaction concept's internal representation in the current high school students' memory? (How to understand and how to preserve the concepts in the long-term memory).(2) What is the difference between academic excellent students and academic non-performing students on redox reaction concept's internal representation? How does the effective internal representation generate?(3) What is the difference between successful and unsuccessful students in problem-solving on redox reactions? What are the dynamic characteristics and application mechanism?Redox reaction concepts play a decisive role on chemistry education in senior high school. This research selects redox reaction concepts as cognitive object and research carrier, and the internal representation as a research topic. The thoughts, methods and conclusions of this research are as follows:1. Survey the form and types of the redox reaction concept's internal representationFirstly, a survey was conducted with "questionnaire on the internal representation of redox reaction concepts" designed by the writer; Grade 2 senior high school students were chosen as the sample to survey the unique characteristics of the internal representation of redox reaction concepts.Secondly, based on the findings, by adopting quality analysis methods the paper tried to categorize the concrete forms of representations and further explored the cognitive law of the internal representation.The research concludes that:(1) The forms of the redox reaction concept's internal representation are divided into two categories, which are proposition symbolic representation category and perception symbolic representation category.Description, chemical symbol, proposition network and metaphor, the basic unit of which is "word", belong to proposition symbolic representation.Image, charts, sample and prototype, the basic unit of which is "image", belong to visual symbolic representation. phonological loop, the basic unit of which is "voice", belong to auditory symbolic representation. The two above are both perception symbolic representation.Chemical conceptual model and scheme are made up of "word" and "image", they are the integrated representation of proposition and perception symbolic.(2) The essence of understanding new concept is establishing concept's multiple internal representations. Perception symbolic representation is low cognitive load and easy to store in the long-term memory, and it can be quickly retrieved. During the early time of learning new concept, there is a significant difference in remembrance effect between proposition symbols representation and visual, auditory, and other perception symbols representation, the latter is significantly better than the former.2. Research on the internal representation formation mechanism of the redox reaction concepts.Based on the former survey findings, we analyze the characteristics of the internal representation and differences between academic excellence and non-performing students through qualitative analyzing method. By individual investigation and interviews, we deeply study the internal representation formation mechanism of the redox reaction concepts.The research concludes that:(1) Academic excellence students are more significantly outstanding than non-performing students on the number of internal representations form, the number of internal representations categories, the extent of refined internal representations and the nature of the concept internal representations. Cognitive differences between academic excellent sdudents and non-performing students reflect that depth of processing is ivery mportant. Academic excellent students initiatly transform the concept representation forms and generate their own representation forms to understand the concept completely, but the non-performing students are not good at such cognitive process.(2) The research reveals that deep information processing is the dynamic factor promoting the concepts from external representation into internal representation in long-term memory, such as self-interpretation and variable form practice.3. Research on the internal representation application mechanism of redox reaction concepts.By testing, survey and individual interview, we study the mechanism of problem-solving. First, distinguish the general path of concept internal representation in problem-solving; second, compare the characteristics of successful and unsuccessful students in solving classification problems and deduction problems in order to reveal the application mechanisms of concept internal representation.The research concludes that:(1) Students cope classification problem containing simple judgment with perception symbolic representation of concept. Students cope deduction problem containing complex judgment with chemical symbolic representation of concept.(2)The research reveals that successful problem-solving is not only rely on the precise concept internal representation, but also rely on the integrated bundle structure of concept internal representation. The construction process of the integrated bundle cognitive structure, includes the re-establishment and re-formation, retrieval clues, re-adjustment and re-composition of integrating multiple forms of concept internal representation.
