The post-modernism trend has been spread into China for thirty years. The philosophy opinion, ideal viewpoint and thought mode have been penetrated into many areas generally, no matter in research domain or life style. It has trigged a hot discussion to analyze the theory and judge the value on post-modernism trend. On that trend, the theory researchers can not form a unified appraisal. They are influenced by the post-modernism thought, but they rarely introspection the development and tendency The situation is also in the research donation of educational theory.The researchers on educational theory have not understood the post-modernism deeply. They just follow the post-modernism, but they do not know the exact path in the research of educational theory. They do not know what does the post-modernism actually mean to the influence and challenge for the research of educational theory. They also do not know the reason why the post-modernism can break up and affect the development of educational theory research in the initial period of reform and open policy. Those questions are the base for this dissertation. The dissertation emphasizes the influence of the post-modernism to the research of educational theory. Then it shows the tendency process and development process of the post-modernism in the research of educational theory. The periodicals of Educational Research from 1979 to 2008 year are the main materials for the dissertation. The dissertation attempts to solve many problems from various aspects. It has showed the thread of thought turning which is neglected by researchers of educational theory using the form of academic archaeology. It has answered many hot topics in many domains of the research of educational theory. It has sought for the intrinsic power and reason for the post-modernism tendency.Chapter one embarks from the theory base and design for the research, and elaborates the methodology principle, which is the archaeology theory and genealogy theory from Foucault. It gives the detailed limits to related conception. And the research object, research method, research thought and research frame are all ascertained. Through that process, we can see the theory premise and the logical mentality clearly.Chapter two analyzes the process and influence of post-modernism tendency in the research of educational theory from the methodology angle. With the changing of research mode, the methodology of educational research also experiences a long process. The process includes the experimental research, anthropology research, qualitative research, narrative research and so on. In the process of thought tendency towards the modern and diversification on the research methodology of educational theory, the research methodology of education turns to the diversification and complex. In the process of thought tendency towards the criticism on the research methodology of educational theory, the research methodology of education turns to the critical theory, critical thought and innovative thought.Chapter third shows the tendency horizon with the influence of post-modernism. In the tendency of localization and nationalization on the research of educational theory, the tendency horizon of post-modernism displays many aspects, such as the pedagogy of socialism with Chinese characteristics, educational globalization and education localization. In the tendency of paying attention to the vulnerable groups on the research of educational theory, the tendency horizon of post-modernism displays many aspects, such as the minority national education, the girl or female education and the left-behind children education. In the tendency of paying attention to the happy education, the tendency horizon of post-modernism displays many aspects, such as discipline education, pleasant education and well-being education.Chapter four shows the influence of post-modernism to the research of educational theory from the reflected aspect. From the influence of reflection on educational essence, the post-modernism displays the tendency from two aspects. Those are essential principle thought and counter - essence principle thought. From the influence of reflection on educational objective, the post - modernism displays the tendency from three aspects. Those are a struggle between the individual - orientation and social - orientation on educational objective, the value of human subjectivity and the value of subjectivities, to reestablish person's image in education and to from the educational objective. From the influence of teaching viewpoint in curriculum, the post-modernism displays the tendency from three aspects. Those are the traditional teaching viewpoint in curriculum, the reflection to traditional teaching viewpoint in curriculum and the post - modernism teaching viewpoint in curriculum.Chapter five analyze the reasons why the research of educational theory tendencies to the post-modernism. The reasons can be showed through three aspects, which are the actual need in education, the influence in social culture environment and the genetic aspect in Chinese traditional thought. I believe that the problems in the traditional school and the actual need of development in the research of educational theory make the tendency necessarily. As a propagation mode, television, movie and network form a culture environment. The post-modernism in that environment affects the researcher of educational theory and the receivers of education all the time. Therefore, the media is an environment factor which causes the thought turns to the post-modernism in the research of educational theory. Chinese traditional thought and the post-modernism are similar in some aspects. The intuitive thinking, counter-human center principle and counter-foundation principle are the basic factors both in Chinese traditional thought and post-modernism thought.
