Energy plays an important role in the development of human society. With the development of human civilization, the demand and dependence of energy will also increase. In the industrial era, large-scale industrial production requires a lot of energy to provide power support. Energy has become a national economic sustainability, healthy and stable development of the important material security. Therefore, there is a very close and important relationship between energy and economic growth. Energy provides the necessary energy to power economic growth, and the growth of economic can enhance energy efficiency and optimize the energy consumption structure. At the same time, in the process of economic growth, the serious environmental problems caused by energy consumption have become a constraint impeding sustainable economic development.Since reform and opening-up in 1978, the consumption of energy grown rapidly. The number of energy consumption is 571.14 million tons of standard coal in 1978, while in 2009, this number increased to 3.06647 billion tons of standard coal which is 4.37 times of 1978. The average annual growth rate of energy consumption from 1978 to 2009 is 5.6%. China has become the world's second largest energy consumption country in 2009. The average annual growth rate of GDP from 1978 to 2009 is 9.63% indicating that China's reform and opening up to lower energy consumption to achieve a GDP growth rate of high-speed growth. After 30 years of reform and opening up, although a substantial increase of energy efficiency, energy economy has not yet reached the status of sustainable development. At present, China's economy development is still in extensive status, making China's energy development faces many serious problems. The heavy industrial structure caused by the formation of resource-intensive, energy-intensive, capital-intensive and pollution-intensive situation in China's industrial development model. Therefore, in order to build a build a harmonious society, it has great significance to study the relationship between energy consumption an economic growth. The theme of this paper is the relationship between energy consumption and economic growth. The purpose of this paper is the achievement the coordinated development of energy and the economy. In the study of energy consumption on economic growth in the economy, efficiency of energy consumption and economic growth of energy consumption in the process of environmental problems arising from the empirical analysis. In this paper, empirical researches will be given on the improvement of energy consumption to economic growth, the efficiency of energy consumption and the environment problems caused by energy consumption. There are three main contents including this dissertation:First, the dissertation analyzes the relationship between energy consumption and economic growth with econometric methods. The first part established the vector autoregression model and makes use of the cointegration test and Granger causality test methods to analyze the relationship between energy consumption and economic growth. The second part analyzes the relationship between major component of energy consumption (such as coal consumption, oil consumption, gas consumption and electricity consumption) and economic growth with the same mothed of the former part. The thesis empirically investigates a long-run equilibrium relationship China's economic production, capital stock, labor and energy consumption does exist. Furthermore, there exists bidirectional Granger between China's energy consumption and economic growth.between energy causality.Second, this dissertation analyzes the factors which impact on energy consumption intensity. Firstly, we analyze the mechanism of action of different factors on energy consumption intensity. In the long run, the impact of energy consumption structure, industrial structure and technological progress to China's energy intensity is more significant. In the short term, the increase of the proportion of secondary industry and coal consumption led to the increase of energy intensity, and technological advances will promote a decline in energy intensity. Energy prices affect energy intensity in China is not significant; secondly, the dissertation discusses the interaction mechanisms between energy efficiency and its affecting factors by the use of Cointegration and errorcorreetion model; thirdly, the factors decomposition of energy intensity from the perspective of industries of China. Efficiency factor plays a decisive positive effect on the reduce of energy intensity in China, while the industrial structure changing plays opposite on the reduce of energy intensity in China. Finally, this dissertation analyzes the coordinative status of energy-economic-environment in China. The dissertation makes use of quantitative analytical methods such as principal component analysis and fuzzy sets method to carry on deep empirical analysis of the harmonious development condition of energy-economy-environment between the year of 1996 and 2009. The basic conclusion is:although the degree of coordination of 3E improved during 1996 to 2009, but still not good enough. The coordination of 3E before 2009 was at different levels of inconsistent state.
