At present, as the vegetables market stood at equilibrium of supply and demand, the vegetable industry developed to a new stage of quality improvement. However, the problem of small peasant economy in vegetable production was still not solved in China, which reduced the control intention and control ability of vegetable safety by vegetable smallholders because of the shortage of investment of fund and technology, traditional vegetable planting patterns and getting away from the market demand in vegetable production. As a result, the stage of farmer production was the weakest in the management and control of vegetable safety, which had negative influence on the effect of the vegetable safety policies and hindered the healthy development of vegetable development in China. Thus, how to improve vegetable safety control effectively at the stage of farmer production was especially important. It was obvious that many previous researches about agricultural products safety control had great importance on solving the realistic vegetable safety problems. On the basis of referring and summarizing these researches, it has been proved that it was beneficial to solve agricultural products safety problems though vertical collaboration in agriculture area. Various agricultural cooperation organizations and contracts arrangements would be effective ways to solve the quality control problems during the production of agricultural products. Then, what the relation was between vegetable farmers'vertical collaboration and quality control behavior, how vegetable farmers' vertical collaboration affected their quality control behavior and by what ways or by what kind of mechanism to arise the result, how to perfect agriculture organization and contract arrangements in vertical coordination of vegetable production and marketing links to promote vegetable farmers'close vertical coordination degree and quality and safety control level in production and marketing links were the keys this article would focus on.This paper analyzed the effect mechanism of vertical collaboration in vegetable farmers'quality control behavior and put forward the theoretical basis and analysis framework based on farmer behavior theory, vertical collaboration theory, information asymmetry theory, principal-agent theory and the asset specificity theory. Besides, this paper explored the difference of vegetable farmers'quality control behavior among different vertical collaboration forms, the impact and paths of different vertical collaboration forms in vegetable farmers'quality control behavior and determinants which had effect on vegetable farmers'option intentions in joining close vertical collaboration forms by cross analysis method, the linear regression model, structure equation model and binary logistic model according to the survey data of vegetable farmers in Hubei province. At last, some advice was given. The paper was made up of eight parts and the main conclusions were as follows: Firstly, on the basis of empirical and theory analysis of the relation between vegetable farmers'vertical collaboration in production links and its quality control, this article suggested that the vertical collaboration in agricultural field was not only beneficial to the connection between "peasant economy" and "big market" and reduced the agricultural risk and market transaction costs, but it was also an effective way to guarantee agricultural products'safety. Vertical collaboration, as an organization management mode, can prompt vegetable farmers control the quality of their products in production links by themselves. The close vertical collaboration in production links was helpful for vegetable farmers to enhance the vegetable quality control level and improve vegetable safety.Secondly, based on the comparative analysis of vegetable farmers'quality control behavior among different vertical collaboration forms in production links, we found that vegetable farmers'quality control behavior was distinctive among different vertical collaboration forms and vegetable farmers'vertical collaboration was obviously related to its quality control behavior, which means the closer the vegetable farmers'vertical collaboration was, the better the vegetable quality control level was. However, farmers' professional cooperatives, which was strongly supported by the nation, was not so close with vegetable farmers'vertical collaboration as a whole and was not so significant in supervising vegetable farmers'quality control behavior.Thirdly, on the basis of empirical analysis of different vertical collaboration forms' effect in production links in vegetable farmers'quality control behavior. We found following conclusions:firstly, market transactions patterns had distinctive negative effect on vegetable farmers'pesticide usage behavior while it had indistinctive negative effect on vegetable farmers'fertilizer usage behavior and processing behavior after picking. Secondly, sales contract mode had distinctive positive effect on vegetable farmers' pesticide usage behavior and processing behavior after picking while it had indistinctive positive effect on vegetable farmers'fertilizer usage behavior. Thirdly, farmers' professional cooperatives had distinctive positive effect on vegetable farmers'pesticide usage behavior and processing behavior after picking while it had indistinctive positive effect on vegetable farmers'fertilizer usage behavior. Fourthly, production contract vertical collaboration all had distinctive positive effect on vegetable farmers'pesticide and fertilizer usage behavior and processing behavior after picking. Fifthly, vegetable farmers' personal and family characteristic and production characteristic had effect on pesticide usage while they did not obviously affect fertilizer usage behavior and processing behavior after picking in the process of vegetable farmers'quality control behavior. Lastly, consumers'pay for vegetable quality was an important factor which affected vegetable farmers'quality control level. As a result, enhancing close vertical collaboration relationship in vegetable's production links and improving vegetable farmers'trading environment and production factors endowment were effect ways to improve vegetable farmers'quality control level. Lastly, based on option intention and its influence factors of vegetable farmers'close vertical collaboration in production links, we found 74.56% of vegetable farmers tended to participate in close vertical collaboration. Some factors had distinctive effect on option intention of vegetable farmers'close vertical collaboration in production links, including vegetable farmers'career, the proportion of vegetable sales income, vegetable planting scale, vegetable commercialization level, how hard vegetable sales was, vegetable price's stability level, the distance from the nearest trading market, how hard to get financial support and the difficulty level to get planting technology. Besides, more professional the vegetable farmers'production was and bigger the production scale was, more willing the vegetable farmers were to take part in close vertical collaboration. At last, close vertical collaboration's market connection function and its special financial support and technology service induced vegetable farmers to participate close vertical collaboration. This article was different from the other researches related with vegetable farmers' quality control intention. This paper, in the background of vegetable special vertical collaboration form in production links, explored vegetable farmers'quality control behavior from the dimensions of vegetable farmers'pesticide and fertilizer usage behavior, their processing behavior after picking and how they adopted quality technology in vegetable production. Besides, this paper analyzed vegetable vertical collaboration's farmer organization and contract arrangement's influence in production links in vegetable farmers'special quality control behavior. The research was based on the actual situation and had realistic value for reference.
