TRIZ is a structured technological innovation method based on knowledge, and it considers resolving contradiction as the fundamental character of the invention and innovation. It is not very easy to use this method in practice, due to its abstraction and vagueness. Many TRIZ experts have made an effort to improve TRIZ, in the hope of increasing its operatability. OTSM and USIT are the most two popular modern innovation methods in the world at present, both of which proposing a formalized analytical framework and the procedure and methodology of inventive problem solving. These modern innovation methods, however, have some obvious defects. One of them lacks the clear problem solving approaches, and the other, dealing with only one small portion of inventive problem types, could not provide a uniform problem model based on the formalized analytical framework. Extenics, which aims at solving contradiction problems based on a general formalized method, is a new theory proposed by a Chinese scholar, but it is seldom used in the field of invention or technological innovation. In order to reduce the abstraction and vagueness of TRIZ, and eliminate the defects of the modern innovation methods, we are trying to establish a new technological theory and technological innovation method, by integrating Extenics and TRIZ.Firstly, the contradiction system in OTSM-TRIZ theory can be conversed to a special opposite problem, with the help of the matching relation between the ENV analytical framework of OTSM and the OCV analytical framework of Extenics. And then a general mechanism of solving contradiction system based on the Extenics and TRIZ is proposed, by analysing several classical innovation examples. The mechanism includes the paths of solving the opposite problem directly by use of transformation bridge of Extenics, selecting a value of the controlling parameter and converting the problem to a special incompatible problem of Extenics, and converting the problem to a super problem by transforming the object of the problem. The above-mentioned mechanism is then explained by a real problem of exploring an automatic calculator for premium rate of a insurance company.Secondly, it is proposed a function realization model based on Extenics and Su-field model of TRIZ, according to the "function-attribute analysis approach" definition of function. The key characters and values relevant to a certain function could be identified and alayzed clearly with this model, and by combining the extension transformation and76standards of TRIZ, a solution to the problem could be found easily. At the same time, a new approach of applying TRIZ resource is proposed based on the matter element of Extenics and TRIZ. Besides, in order to reduce the abstraction and vagueness of the40inventive principles, and reveal their essential transformation and operating elements, a representing model of TRIZ inventive principles is proposed based on the extension transformation. The new model could not only improve the operability of the principles, but also reveal the fundamental similarity between some of them.Lastly, except some other defects, the TRIZ ideality formula at present is separating from the contradiction solving and the technological evolution theory, so a new ideality expression based on lattice theory and Hasse diagram is established. This expression not only enliminates the above-mentioned defects of the old formula, but also links the ideality expression, contradic+ion, and technological evolution smoothly.
