Study On Sustainable Urban Land Use In Urbanization

Urbanization is the direction that cannot be reversed our human society going. Along with increasing economy and rapid urbanization, all the countries pay respect to the problems about population, food, resources, energy and environment increasingly. Many experts and scholars expatiate different sides of sustainable development from the nature, society, economy and technique, in a word, emphasizing to regard nature resources as the foundation, and moderating mutually with resources and loading dint of environment; progressing exaltation the quantity of life as a target, adapting to the society progress; changing the traditional economy increasing mode to sustainable increasing mode.The urban diseases such as population, foods, resources and environment are more or less relation to the urbanization development. The sustainable development of land resources is the foundation of the sustainable development of our society, there is no sustainable development of the society without sustainable use of land resources. And urban land is the most important resource to urban development. The sustainable urban land use is the foundation of sustainable land use of the whole area and the sustainable development of the city and our society.China is in the beginning of the rapid period of urbanization and not only the society and the economic but the urban land using will face abrupt change in the coming 20 years according to the experience of many developed cities in the world. Sustainable urban land use is the only way we go or we'll suffer from "urban diseases" that happened in most developed countries such as environment pollution, slums, resources crocking up and so on. With the chronic illness in urban land using caused by the planning economy system and the rapid development of the economy, there is a series of serious problems in urban land using in our country:â‘ The urban land scale expanded disordered and occupied a lot of farmland.â‘¡The structure of the inner city land is unreasonable, and the land utility is weakening.â‘¢Serious environment pollution caused by unreasonable urban land use.The geography definition of urbanization gives the starting point of the research of this thesis, it shows that urbanization not only means the evolvement course from farm land to urban land, but also the evolvement of the land structure of inner city. And the structure of urban land is the foundation of the function and the utility of urban land, the relationship between urban land using and the society and environment changes with the evolvement of the structure of urban land. In this thesis, we pay more attention to discussthe immanent relationship between urban land structure and its evolvement course. And the current studies on urban land using concern less about the evolvement course, rules and mechanism of the structure of urban land. This thesis focuses on solving the problems as follows: What are the characteristics of urban land using in urbanization? How different urban land types formed and how they evolved ? What's the dynamic mechanism and rule of urban land evolvement? What are the meaning and appraisal standard of sustainable urban land use? How to appraise the level of urban land use? How to diagnose the factors that against sustainable urban land use? What measures we should adopt to attain the goal of sustainable urban land use?There are eight chapters altogether:Chapter 1 mainly expounds the backgrounds and meaning of the research, introduces the research route and the methods adopted in the thesis, and makes special explanation to the research district.Chapter 2 is the theory part of this thesis, conceptions such as urbanization and its development, urban land and its research range, urban land use system and its characteristics, sustainable urban development and sustainable land use are expounded at the very beginning of this part. The connotation of sustainable urban land use is delimited in this part, witch means the best habitus of sustainable development of economy, society and environment during the course of urban land using, and to achieve the efficient and economical urban land using and reasonable configuration of urban land resources by all kinds of countermeasures, make the limited urban land resources continuously supply land resources to support the development of society and economy, and to satisfy the demand of enhancing the living environment of people. Then it discusses the progress of researches sustainable urban land use both in China and abroad, emphasizes the mutual interaction theory of man-earth system, sustainable development theory, location theory and landscape ecology theory, witch are the theory foundation of this thesis.In chapter 3, we make exhausitive analysis on the evolvement of the structure of urban land and the economic, society and environment utility of urban land use of Wuhan city, know about the tendency of urban land evolvement as well as the problems in urban land use as follows: The urban land scale expanded disordered and occupied a lot of farmland, and the structure of the inner city land is unreasonable, the land utility improved but far behind developed cities in the world. Serious environment pollution and social problems caused by unreasonable urban land use. Cultivated land reduced with the urbanization progress and the increasing of construction land.The evolvement of urban land spatial structure and the dynamic mechanism of theevolvement are the core research problems in chapter 4, It briefly analyzes the ways that the spatial structure of urban land evolves: urban sprawl in the outside of urban land and urban land structure restructuring in the inner city and urban system evolvement, brings forward that the industrial restructuring, system reforming, technology progress and the activities of city dwellers are the driving forces that making the urban land structure evolve. In the end, it analyzes the dynamic mechanism of the evolvement of urban land spatial structure.Chapter 5 emphasizes on the research of the evaluation of sustainable urban land use in urbanization. It concludes the research outcomes and points out the shortage in this research field and sets up the index system of the evaluation of sustainable urban land use according to the aim of sustainable urban land use in urbanization. Then the evaluation system is applied to Wuhan city and the evaluation result shows urban land use in Wuhan is right on the elementary sustainable level. Finally we find out the factors against sustainable urban land use in Wuhan by calculating the value of the impediment degree of each index. The evaluation results are coinciding with the current urban land use in Wuhan, witch shows that the evaluation system and evaluation methodology in this thesis are workable and utilitarian.In chapter 6, the pre-warning theory is cited to the research of sustainable urban land use. We delimit the connotation of the pre-warning of sustainable urban land use and discuss the pre-warning control system of sustainable urban land use in the end.In chapter 7, it discusses the countermeasures of sustainable urban land use in urbanization, which include suggestions to ameliorate the market mechanism and government mechanism according to the market failure and government failure in allocating of urban land resources, countermeasures to optimize the urban land spatial structure and countermeasures to prevent pollution and to improve landscape ecological system.Chapter 8 recapitulates the conclusions of this thesis and points out the future work of this research.
