Research On Location Of City Logistic Centers

Accompanying the development of market economy in China, thelocation of city logistic centers has become a frontier topic in the area ofmanagement and business. It is very important both in theory andapplication to make a thorough study on the location problem of citylogistic centers. Based on the theory of logistics, management andoperational research, this dissertation tries to make detailed theoreticaland empirical studies about the conception, function, and locationdecision-making of city logistic centers.The main contents of this dissertation are as follows:By referencing to existing literature in this field, the conception,category, and programming is reviewed, and the general methods of citylogistic center's location decision-making are analyzed. Then differentstrategies of location are classified according to the characteristics oflogistic centers.The problem of location decision-making in competitiveenvironment is studied. With the aim of gaining a larger market share, weformulate the strategy for location decision-making when the product isdistinctive or indistinctive. Then we analyze the location decision-makingof a new logistic center for gaining the maximum utility. Programmingmodels are built for these two cases, and are implemented in experiments.The results are compared and analyzed in detail.The problem of dynamic location decision-making is described. Byusing dynamic programming, we present the framework of the locationdecision-making in multi-periods with variable logistic cost. Then theprogressive p-median method is adopted to set up the dynamicprogramming model when the number of logistic centers in future isuncertain or the customer demand is varied with time. Experimentalexamples are calculated and analyzed.The virtual logistic center is introduced. We review the developmentof virtual logistic center, and analyze the impact of digital city on citylogistics. The characteristic of city logistics based on digital city isexamined, and the connotation, function and running mode of the virtuallogistic center is presented. The location model of web server for virtuallogistic centers is built, and an experimental example is calculated andanalyzed.
