Dangerous cargo is a kind of cargo with dangerous characteristic, in the process of its production, storage and transportation, the accident is incidental such as leakage, burning and explosion, which is harmful to the people and environment around. With the socioeconomic development and the upgrading of the technology, the dangerous cargo is widely utilized, with increasing quantity demanded and risk. In the recent years, with rising ratio of accident, the caused lost and influence is generally expanded. The safety issue has already aroused great concern from society.Due the characteristic of dangerous cargo, any failure in the process will lead to a crippling accident. The joint efforts are necessary in each process for the prevention of accident and risk control. As the basic step, the location of dangerous cargo logistics center is very vital to the risk control and cost reduction.With combination the demand characteristic of storage and the location theory, a method is proposed to solve the location issue in this paper. The main contents of this paper are as follows.(1)The transportation characteristics of dangerous cargo are analyzed, besides the actuality of transportation. The safety evaluation index system is established after the analysis of the safety factor.(2)Logistics center is defined and classified, and the factors of logistics center location are analyzed. The traditional models to solve the location issue are introduced, with the analysis of its characteristic and adaptability.(3)Due to the characteristic of the location, the multiple objective programming is selected to solve the logistics center location. After the objectives and their combination are chosen, the location model is established and the algorithm is designed.(4)The above method is used to solve the logistics center location issue in XX area. The optimal location is selected after the model is set and the calculation is carried out. The model is illustrated to be feasible and effective to solve the location issue.
