Study On Human Behavior's Driving Mechanism Of Urban Region Land Use Change

Land use /land cover change (LUCC) is one of the focuses of global change research. The detailed aim of LUCC project includes: â‘  Acknowledge driving force of global land use and land cover change better; (2) Investigate and describe space-time dynamic changeability of land use and land cover change;â‘¢ Describe relations between land use and sustainability; â‘£ Acknowledge interrelations between LUCC, Biogeochemistry and climate. Among these aims, research and acknowledge on driving force is one kernel aim. From relation between land use and land cover, land use is cause and land cover is result and landscape character of land use. From history, Land use is the result of human being's behaviors, human behavior is the most fundamental driving force of land use change.Urban region is congregation center of economy and culture, is the most frequent change region of land use change. Land use change in urban region is driving by demand and supply force. Demand factor includes population, urbanization, economy development, ecology development, and so on. Supply force includes resource status, resource use system, planning, and so on. Urban region land use change is the result driven by the combined force of market and government.Construction land. sprawl and cultivated land limitation are focal problems of land use change in urban areas. Our country's situation of huge populations and scarce cultivated land requires to control urban sprawl. Research on cost of urban sprawl also clarifies the higher and higher price of sprawl. All the above require urban to be compact development. On the other hand, China now is on the accelerate increasing stage of urbanization and industrialization, urban sprawl and cultivated land occupied are the necessity. To harmonize development and resource protection, driving force mechanism is one of the most important contents of land use change research.This research is funded by CUG excellent young teacher project, by project of Wuhan land management and city planning bureau (project of Wuhan general land use planning), and by project of Hubei education bureau. The topic is scientific and practicable.In the first part, set forth the international and domestic research progress on land use and land cover change, especially on driving force mechanism of land use change. Based on society, economic, ecological, spatial theory of urban expand, design fundamental frame with balance demand & supply. Urban region land use is the process of series of regulation of supply and demand. Demand promote urban to expand and expand, supply emphasizes on control when satisfying demand. Compromise between supply and demand is the fundamental cause of urban area land use status comes into being.
