Today, with richer material wealth and faster life rhythm, customers'requirement that the enterprises can provide them with product instantly and cheaply forces the enterprises to have to provide individual product instantly with low cost. Because a manufacturing goal is corresponding to manufacturing paradigm, the enterprises need a new production paradigm the goal of which is realize low cost, customization and zero lead-time of customer ordering simultaneity. Thus, the manufacturing paradigm of Instant Customerization emerges as the times require. However, IC oriented supply chain management is a key factor that guarantees its effective operation. Consequently, constructing a kind of supply chain to support the manufacturing paradigm of IC has become an important research topic. Instant Customerization seeks zero-time, which is a limit of responding to customer demand and topmost goal of time-based competition. Hence, time-based strategies is not isolated but involved into a new field of IC paradigm, namely shortening supply chain time and individual customization are integrated. Therefore, Studying the problem about the characters of supply chain cycle time has a significant value in theory and practice to explore how to management and compress supply chain cycle time in order to instantly responding to customers'individual demand with lower cost of supply chain, ultimately realizing IC manufacturing. This research investigates systematically the problem about the characters of supply chain cycle time under time-sensitivity demand from the following four aspects through qualitative and quantitative methodology, that is, the structure model of IC oriented agile supply chain, the relation of the action of time compression on the formation of supply chain competitiveness, the configuration, the calculation and optimization of total cycle time of supply chain. The main contents could be summarized as follows: (1) A study of the IC oriented supply chain model. Firstly, this research analyzes the limitations and challenge of traditional supply chain management. Secondly, after analyzing the requirements IC puts forward for agile supply chain, the structure model of IC oriented agile supply chain is constructed. Finally, it claims that time compression is a key enabler for IC oriented agile supply chain, and an integrated model of time compression enabling IC oriented agile supply chain is built. (2) A study of he relation of the action of time compression on the formation of supply chain competitiveness. Firstly, the essence of time compression in supply chain is analyzed. Secondly, relation between time compression and cost is probed into through summarizing the related case literatures, finding there is a direct and cogent relation between them, thus analyzes the influencing relation between time compression and cost reduction, with modeling economic time-compression quantity model. Thirdly, on the premise that direct relation between time compression and supply chain competitiveness is demonstrated by reviewing the existing empirical studies, the relation of the action of time compression on the formation of supply chain competitiveness is further investigated. Finally, response time profit is presented. (3) A study of the structure model of total cycle time of supply chain. Firstly, the trend on the scope of time beginning extended to supply chain is analyzed. Secondly, the meaning of total cycle time of supply chain is newly annotated, and its structure model is presented. Thirdly, the structure model of total cycle time of supply chain is put forward according to cycle view of supply chain process. Fourthly, the makeup of total cycle time of supply chain is described on basis of TCODP. Finally, the components of total cycle time of supply chain are analyzed by grey relational analysis. (4) A study of the calculation model and optimization decision of total cycle time of supply chain. Based on defining the concept of goods flow in supply chain, it analyzes the applicability of modeling goods flow in supply chain by Markov Chain. Goods flow process in supply chain is modeled by applying Markov Chain, and formulation of the mean and variance of total cycle time of supply chain is presented, and a numerical example was given. At the same time, basing on the numerical example, several optimization decisions of total cycle time of supply chain are put forward. The final chapter of the dissertation concludes the entire dissertation and describes the directions of the future research of supply chain cycle time for the author himself.
