This paper carries on a research upon the investment opportunity of different types of multimedia products in different market. The purpose of this research is to give support for the investors in the multimedia field while facing different investment opportunities.Multimedia is one of the hi-tech industries, and it covers various fields and has various kinds of products. What's more, the life cycle of multimedia products is rather short. All these make it difficult for the investors to find a proper investing field. There are two reasons why many investors get failed while investing in multimedia field. One is that the product cannot meet the consumer's demand, which make it difficult for the producer to sale its product, let alone profit. So the investor cannot get any return by investing such product. The other reason is that although the product meets the consumer's demand and has a good sale, the market competition makes it difficult to make any profit, which leads to the investor's hard condition.To solve such a problem, this paper provide a method combined with the appraisal of commercial opportunity and producer's income. The commercial opportunity appraising is carried upon the analyst of the improvement of the product's function and the renewal of the consumer's demand. Meanwhile, the multimedia products are divided into two kinds, one is call star-network multimedia product, and the other is called mash-network multimedia product. For each type of product, the paper analyses the producer's equilibrium in monopoly market and monopolistic competition market, which provides a method to forecast the producer's income in the future market. This method makes it possible for the investor to judge the investment opportunity.This paper is composed of seven chapters. Chapter 1 introduce the necessity of carrying on such a research; chapter 2 gives a review of the researches in the field of multimedia; chapter 3 provides a framework of the theory of how to carry on a research about investment opportunity in the field of multimedia after a thorough study of the characteristics of multimedia products; chapter 4 gives a method of appraising a multimedia product's commercial opportunity by studying the improvement types of product function, and also gives a re-classifying of multimedia products; chapter 5 is a research on the products in a monopoly market, it makes it clear that what makes a producer to get profit in such a market; chapter 6 focus in a...
