With the strategy of the"constructing well-to-do society roundly"and the"rising central China"in China, studying on enterprise networks in industrial clusters in rural areas of central China can theoretically connect the enterprise networks studies with the industrial clusters studies, and in practice can solve the crucial problems such as"triple farming"in central China effectively as well. Based on the reviewing and exploring to the research of network theories of enterprise, this paper constructs an integrated framework of"5C (Cluster, Chain --Capability, Contract—Competitiveness)"to analyze enterprise networks, along the analytic line of phenomenon--process--performance--strategic practice. It aims to answer how the small and medium enterprises (SMEs) in rural areas of central China can improve their competitiveness through networking with other enterprises or institutions. The SMEs in rural areas of central China can organize their networks by participating clusters or chains, increase their endogenous capabilities by out-sourcing, form their relational contracts by collaborating and interacting with other actors and improve their competitiveness in global markets. At last, this paper also emphasizes that the enterprise networks and clusters can be constructed, fostered and upgraded in rural area of central China, according to the international practices in clusters and networks. In view of Henan province's typifying for the five provinces in central China in regard to rural industrial development, this paper chiefly examines the enterprise networks in three clusters in Henan Province, that is, the steel office furniture cluster in Pangcun town, Yanshi city, the steel measuring tape cluster in Nanzhuang village, Yucheng county and the hair products cluster in Xuchang county , Xuchang city, by means of the social network analysis (SNA), transaction-cost analysis (TCA) and space-time coupling approach.
