Urbanization is an inevitable stage in the process of industrialization, and it is of special significance when China economy is in a state of imbalance. In the past, the studies of urbanization took more attention on city planning (choose to build a large, medium or small city) and the benefits and defaults of the city scale, as well as how to build towns. Chapter 2, from the longitudinal angle, looks for the initial decisive factors which lead to the differences among small towns by studying the origin of the small town in different countries and regions. Chapter 3, from horizontal angle, analyzes the influences of resource natural possession, institution arrangement, population distribution and imbalance in resource-obtaining on the growth of township. And also goes on the quantity analysis on the relevant factors which make the main differences in the process of township growth among the eastern, middle and western areas in this chapter. Chapter 4, we gain some enlightenments after comparing a certain number of typical cases of small towns in the eastern, central and western regions. Then, based on the quantity analyze and case analysis, we take out the corresponding theoretical explanation.
