Since joining into WTO, Chinese tourism industry which is open to the outside world gradually has attracted not only a number of inbound tourists, but also a great deal of oversea investment as a large magnet.The foreign investment are infiltrating into Chinese tourism industry by various ways, and world tourism transnational corporations try to be first to startup Chinese market. At present, Chinese hotel industry is already openin an all-round way.Forty-nine international brand hotels have get into Chinese market; Tourism agent industry has quickened the tempo of open, the number of hotel with foreign investment is up to twenty-five, showing a tendency to grow rapidly. China is becoming one of the uppermost globalization of tourism enterprises.With the rapid globalization of tourism industry development, great changes have taken place in value-creation of Chinese inbound tourism. Monopoly barrier of inbound tourism was broken down, international tourism corporations seize leading market, tourism groups home and abroad compete aginsteach other face to face. The market in which domestic competition becomes international and international competition becomes domestic has formed. How does Chinese inbound tourism create, add, keep and gain value? Bring along regional economic development? Avoid over leakage of tourism economy? Benefit to the long term growth in keen competition? Under these conditions, this dissertation summated and investigated global value chain theory and applied initially the theory to analysis of Chinese inbound tourism development. Following the global-nation-region-enterprise analysis levels, this dissertation analyzed the mutual relationship among international tourism cooperations (foreign cooperations), domestic tourism cooperations, government, tourist and resource, which are in the process of value-creation of Chinese inbound tourism. In this dissertation, the research on global operation mechanism of Chinese inbound tourism is highlighted, the research on the effect of nation, trade organization and regional institution produced on Chinese inbound tourism is stressed, organizational innovation administration model and industrial upgrade of tourism is emphasized especially.This dissertation is divided into eight chapters:The first chapter is introduction, introducing content, methods and background of this research. Author suggests that the Chinese inbound tourism should be studied from global-local angle. It is global value chain theory that is one of the favourate research frameworks which reveals the global-local industry economic relationship.In the second chapter, author reviewed and investigated inbound tourism research, global value chain theory and its related theories, and other research achievements existed in tourism. After introducing VC, GCC, GPN and GVC completely and thoroughly, this dissertation, from the viewpoint of theory research, clearly pointed out that VC, GCC researchs tend towards unified GVC recently. The research of GVC and GPN also towards integrate increasingly. GVC but not GPN is applied in this dissertation, because tourism is service trade other than manufacturing industry. So,"value"can lay stress on the special character of tourism industry better than"product".In the third chapter, author analyzed the history and present situation of Chinese inbound tourism. Nation trade organization and region institution influence Chinese inbound tourism in every development stage are stressed. In the fourth chapter, author analyzed the space-time process that Chinese inbound tourism inserts in global value chain network. In the diversity of insertion, this part focuses on the problem of"anchor"at different location.(from national level to local level), dissertation then choses five factors, constructed maths modals to make a quantitative analysis of space-time process of inbound tourism economic development.In the fifth chapter author analyzed organizational innovation and power relationship of Chinese inbound tourism, trans-boundary relationship among enterprises, running mechanism of global value chain network. It is suggested that the globalization development makes the economics operation independent of the stress on market function difficult, and the innovation of chain/net industry orgnization is very important to the modern industry economy. In this chapter author analyzed cases by interviewing management echelon of Chinese tourism industry enterprises.In the sixth chapter, author analyzed the administrative model of Chinese inbound tourism global value chain. Author held that the administrative model of Chinese inbound tourism global value chain is dynamics. The model between international cooperation inserted in global value chain network and its solely owned tourism enterprise in China is hierarchical, while the model between international cooperation and joint tourism enterprise is semi-hierarchical. The model among domestic tourism enterprises is transiting from market administrative model to hierarchical and network administrative models.In the seventh chapter, author analyzed the industry upgrade of Chinese inbound tourism in global value chain network. It is a overall challenge facing Chinese inbound tourism economy whether Chinese inbound tourism can realize industryupgrade on the base of global value chain network, open to the outside world, control Chinese inbound tourism value chain, gain more benefit or not.The eighth chapter is the conclusion. The main conclusions of this dissertation are summarized. While the insufficient points of this dissertation and further research orientation are pointed out.
