Nowadays, modern service industry has already become an industry with the widestrange, whose proportion and significance are getting more and more prominent and whichis a main impetus that makes the modern economy keep on developing quickly. Comparedwith traditional labor-intensive service industry, modern service industry is an industrywith the characteristics of knowledge and human capital intensity. Therefore, the study onthe knowledge management capability of modern service industry will have a great effecton enterprises' occupation of a dominant position and gain the advantageous market place.Up till now, there is not much research on modern service industry in the aspect ofknowledge management capability.With the support from the item of Science Foundation of JiangSu Provinece"Measuring the knowledge management capability of modern service industry in JiangSuprovience" and the item of Young Scholar Foundation of NanJing University of Scienceand Technology"A study on knowledge management capability of modern serviceindustry", the concept of contest is explicitly introduced into maturity theory and predictiontheory and considered the position of the implementation of the knowledge managementcapability of modern service industry, the purpose of estabilishing the maturity analysismodel and the development model is determing the condition and the rank of theknowledge management capabilities of modern service enterprise and industry. Similarly,the aim to establish the prediction system of knowledge management capabilities ofmodern service industry is supervising, discerning and predicting the risk condition ofknowledge management of modern service industry. And the research achievements are putinto practice through the survey of typical enterprise and typical service industry ofJiangSu Province. The main research and achievements are as follows:(1) It analyzes the background of this study, introduces domestic and internationalresearch condition, and introduces the research thinking way, research method.(2) After referring the relevant studies in and abroad, we classify "Modern ServiceIndustry" into nine main subgroups:data transmission, computer service and software,logistics, the finance and insurance, real estate business, education and training, study ofscience and technology service industry, rent and business service industry, science andtechnology development service industry. The definition of Knowledge ManagementCapability comes from Knowledge Management process, Including knowledge acquisitioncapability, knowledge transfer capability, knowledge diffusion capability, knowledge utilization capability, knowledge creation capability, knowledge protection capability,knowledge measure capability(3) Taking the enterprise and the industry into account, this study forms a completeresearch system of the knowledge management capability of the modern service industry,both showing the same characteristics and their own features. And, this train of thought andthe technology route run through the full text.(4) In order to determine the position that the modern service enterprise shouldachieved in developing and executing the knowledge management, the study use thecapability maturity model for reference and establish the knowledge managementcapability maturity model and index system, also, propose the implementation and theestimating process of the maturity model of knowledge management capability.(5) At the same time, based on the maturity theory, the prediction system forknowledge management capability of modern service industry is established from theperspective of knowledge management capability, and the way of fuzzy synthesis is usedfor comprehensive valuation.(6) The applicability of the above research was evaluated through case studies.Several typical enterprises in five typical service industries were selected includingtelecommunications, real estate, higher education, finance and logistics. At the first,according to the questionnaire has accomplished, we measure the level of knowledgemanagement capability of modern service industry in typical enterprise, and based on thetypical enterprise, we measure the level of knowledge management capability in typicalservice industry.(7) The study point out some problems existed in the process of the development ofJiangSu service industry, and in accordance with the typical service industry were chosen,we put up with some measures to improve the development of modern service industrybased on the knowledge management capability.In conclusion, the purpose of this study is to tell the position of the knowledgemanagement capability of modern service industry, so as to control, be on guard the risksand improve the effiency of modern service industry and help the governments at all levelsand departments distinguish the levels of industry development and make developingstrategy and policies of local modern service industry.
