Research On Intellectual Capital And Its Management

To promote national competitive ability, nations in the world are trying to establish the national innovation systems of their own; research institutions of intensive intellectual capital have become the main body of science and technology innovation in the international communities; and the contribution to the development of national economy and social wealth by the research institutions are rapidly increasing. With the rapid development of intellectual economy, the intellectual capital has become the most important and rare resources in the world. Hence, at present, to manage intellectual capital in research institutions in a high-efficient and competitive manner has become an urgent problem both in practice and theory.Based on management and economics, the paper employs systematic Hierarchical Analysis and comprehensive methods to undertake deduction and induction, comparison and classification in the study of the intellectual capital.First, based on concepts and developments of intellectual capital both at home and abroad, the paper has redefined the concept of intellectual capital. Secondly, the paper has put forward the nature and content of intellectual capital management on the basis of intellectual capital management both at home and abroad. On the basis of a detailed analysis of the characters of research institutions and intellectual capital components, the paper has determined the key content of intellectual capital management in research institutions, i.e. the development, transformation, sharing, protection and evaluation of intellectual capital. Finally, the paper has put forward various models of intellectual capital management of different research institutions.The author of the paper has undertaken Creative exploration on the development of intellectual capital and its management mainly in the following aspects:First, the author has put forward stratified conceptual system of intellectual capital. Based on previous studies on intellectual capital concepts, the paper has redefines the concept of intellectual capital, analyzed all the definitions concerned and induced them into a unified logical structure. This new conception system was put forward on the basis of the research achievements by forerunners both at home and abroad, tries to systemize all debated definitions on intellectual capital, covering different definitions and its core issues raised by experts and scholars both at home and abroad in a long run.Second, the author has put forward a stratified model of intellectual capital of research institutions. Intellectual capital covers the following contents, including 5 hierarchies: i.e. intelligent resource, manpower capital, research achievement, intellectual property right and intellectual products. This new model can provide an effective analysis tool for future research on intellectual capital management and its model.Third, the author has put forward an effective system of intellectual capital management of research institutions. As the intensive intellectual capital basis, the research institutions should have 5 links in intellectual capital management: development, transformation, sharing, protection, and evaluation. Through the system analysis and organic combination of the 5 links, they can form various models of the management.Fourth, the author has put forward options of intellectual capital management for four kinds of research institutions. According to the research content and Hierarchical characters of intellectual capital of the research institutions, research institutions can be broken down into four 4 different types. Therefore, by combining the five links mentioned above, different research institutions should adopt appropriate models of their own in intellectual capital management so as to form their own management models.Thus, as the main body of intellectual capital innovation, research institutions urgently needs theoretic instruction and method options associated with intellectual capital management. The author hopes to provide effective supports to research institutions in intellectual capital management and provide effective reference for intellectual capital management in intensive intellectual capital research institutions.
