In recent years, the rapid growth in China's export of aquatic products attracts closeattention of academic community both at home and abroad with research literaturesconcerning the relevant field teemed. However, the strict empirical researches based on theangle of demand are relatively rare. This dissertation, based on the analysis mode of"generalquantity-structure-demand"and starting with development of trade theory, makes an in-depthstudy on China's export trade features of aquatic products,in an attempt to reveal thestructural problems in China's export trade of aquatic products. The study suggests that theinternational demand shift has great impact on the scale and structure of China's export tradeof aquatic products, while the impact of domestic demand shift is insignificant. The main research contents and innovative views of this dissertation are as follows:Chapter One is Introduction. Based on the statement of the background, purpose andmeaning of the research on China's export trade of aquatic products,it summarizes andappraises the relevant research dynamics of the domestic aquatic products trade universallyand objectively, clarifies the design and application of quantitative research on export trade ofaquatic products from the aspect of demands, and shows the influential rule of demand shift toexport trade of aquatic trade is the crucial field which is worthy of attention and researchthrough the combination of theoretical research and the reality of China's aquatic productstrade. At the same time,it summarized the innovation part of the research in this article basedon the purpose and concept of research and the technical routine and main methods applied inresearch design.Based on the summary of the domestic and international research theories,ChapterTwo analyzes the impact of demand shift on the export trade of aquatic products, builds theanalysis frame of China's export trade of aquatic products based on the"generalquantity-structure-demand"model,carries out the primary theoretical analysis, and clarifiesthe main foundations and conception of the research on China's export trade of aquaticproducts from the aspect of demands.Chapter Three is an analysis of the export trade scale and structure feature of China' saquatic products. Using large amounts of data, this chapter analyzes the domestic andinternational status of China's aquatic products trade and shows the overall scale and structurefeatures. By using statistical analysis,it arrives at the following conclusion:first,as the largest production and exporting country of aquatic products in the world,China plays animportant role in domestic export trade and global import trade of aquatic products. However,it faces crucial challenge at the same time when the overall scale keeps rapid increase. Second,it faces many problems while the export structure shows the features like equalization ofproducts and reduction of regional concentration. The problems are that the export varietiesare mostly low-end products, the deep-processing level is low,the centralized regionalmarkets in China lead to the regional differences, and the centralized external regionalmarkets lead to the weakness of the demand influence, etc.Chapter Four is an analysis of the relationship between import demand shift and China'sexport trade of aquatic products. From the shift of the food consumption in the world andcombining the influence of the consumption demand shift of aquatic products to the globalaquatic products import,it carries out quantitative analysis of the relationship betweenChina's export trade of aquatic products and global import demand. It forms the followingviews:First, the same as the food consumption, the global aquatic consumption shows thedifferences concerning geography, nation and income when its scale expands. Second, theglobal import demand of aquatic products shows significant regional centralization anddifference of products. The import markets of aquatic products are mainly developedcountries, and the import products are mainly fresh aquatic products and the finished productsare relatively rare. The regionalization feature strengthens constantly. Third,China's exportshift of aquatic products basically keeps in line with the global import demand, reflected inboth the gross amount and in the aspect of structure.Chapter Five is an empirical test of the impact imposing on China's export trade ofaquatic products by import demands. Based on trade Gravity Model and CMS model, itcarries out the empirical test of the impact imposed on China's export of aquatic productsfrom the aspect of scale and structure, and the following conclusion are drawn:first,China'sexport trade of aquatic products in China is positively correlated with the gross revenue of theimporting countries as well as the total output value of Chinese fishery industry andnegatively correlated with the distance between the importing and exporting countries. Thesignificance of the promotion function on the exportation of China's aquatic products by GDPfactors which reflect the aquatic products demands for consumption in foreign countries hasfully demonstrated that the shift in import demands of foreign countries is a key factor toinfluence the export scale expansion of aquatic products in China among all influentialvariables. The second is that the export growth of aquatic products in China is the syntacticresult of structure, competitiveness and sub-level effects. The original insignificant structuralfactors reinforce increasingly while the most prominent impact of competitiveness is descending. Hereinto, the reinforcement of the demand effect is particularly prominent, indicating that the impact of import demand shift in foreign countries on China's export ofaquatic products is on the rise. The influence of demand factors differs in accordance withdifferent products and markets. As far as the products are concerned, there shall be greaterimpact on fresh cold stored aquatic products and lesser impact on finished products;as far asthe export market is concerned, the impact of the import demand effect of Korea andEuropean Union shall be the greatest,America comes next and the effect of Japan is muchless. Opposite to the obvious promotion effect of ASEAN,the impact of the import demand inHong Kong on China's aquatic products exports had dropped to some extent.Chapter Six is an analysis of impact of domestic demand for consumption on China'sexport trade of aquatic products. Based on analysis of the influential factors of consumptiondemand and consumption features of China's aquatic products,it tests and co-integrates therelationship between the shift of domestic consumption demands and the export of all kinds ofChina's aquatic products with Engle-Granger Causal Relation Test. The conclusion is asfollows:first, the aquatic products demands for consumption are influenced by the shift offood consumption, besides income, population and the urbanization level. Second, while theconsumption per capita keeps at a low level, overall consumption of China's aquatic productsis increasing, indicating great regional difference as well as difference between urban andrural areas. Third, there is a unitary causal relation between the domestic gross consumptionof aquatic products and its total export in China. The export of aquatic products may impacton the domestic consumption, while the impact on domestic consumption on export is notobvious. Hereinto, the export of aquatic products such as fresh cold stored fish and soft-shellaquatic products shall influence the domestic consumption, while the consumption does notobviously influence the export, and the other three types of aquatic products do not have anobvious causal relation with export.Chapter Seven is an analysis of the optimization of export trade pattern of aquaticproducts in China. It attempts to provide valuable countermeasures regarding scale expansionand structure optimization of China's aquatic products export from the aspect of productstructure and regional structure in accordance with foreign import demands for aquaticproducts and in combination with competitiveness:the first is to optimize the productstructure and carry out deep-processing of the finished products to enhance the added value ofthe products;meanwhile, take measures to increase the domestic production of fresh aquaticproducts in order to improve the supply capacity. The second is to single out the target market.Actively expand the potential markets with larger import proportion and weakercompetitiveness in such countries as Germany, the Great Britain,France,Italy and Russia, etc. The third is to reinforce regional trade cooperation. Set up free trade zone by the agency ofthe geographic connections with Japan,Korea as well as East-Asia countries, reduce tradeconflicts, and further expand the export scale in Asian markets on the basis of mutualbenefits. In Chapter Eight,The policy suggestions of the conclusion are put forward.
