In an established theoretical framework and the preconditioned premise,by following the logic basis provided by the theory of comparative advantage and industrial transference, this thesis makes a detailed study on the "economic cooperation between Taiwan and the western areas of mainland "in the orientation of cross-straits economic integration. The cross-strait economic cooperation takes an obvious integration-orientated tendency in the areas like trade, investment, industrial transference and regional distribution. After the realization of functional economic integration the goal will shift to the institutional economic integration. And the three direct links - trade, transport and postal services makes the condition of economic integration a clear transformation. The economic relationship within the areas of mainland the transformation upgrading of the industries in Taiwan have become the internal economic condition for the cross-strait institutional economic integration.Based on the above theory, this thesis studies the development and transformation of Taiwan economy, the forming mechanism and development tendency in the regional economic relationship of interior mainland from the perspective of Taiwan's leading industries conversion and the changes of status of international industrial division, the forming of Taiwan's economic difficulties; the role that mainland can play in helping Taiwan during the process of getting out of the difficulties. How can the positive interior regional economic relation improve the roles that the improvement of new changes in the amount of economic formation, Taiwan, mainland process of regional economic relations within China to improve our function of information industry, international industrial division under the system of China's position and domestic regional industry positioning, etc are discussed and the transformation of economic development in Taiwan, mainland interior region economic relationship with the development trend of the. The above analysis makes the necessity and inevitability of the economic cooperation between the western areas in mainland and Taiwan microscopically.Theoretically, the implementation of the strategy of development of western regions in Taiwan in the mainland will be an important opportunity for the Taiwan enterprises to enter western areas, but the absence of Taiwan enterprises in west developed regions is an indisputable fact. After investigating the associativity between the regional advantages and the investment of Taiwanese businessmen before and after the development of west regions, the author thinks that after a period of absence of Taiwan enterprises, there will be a large-scale, long-period investment wave. The major investment area will be the labor-intensive manufacturing in eastern areas for the first period with the possibility of investing some high-technology industry with particular resources in some specific western areas. Based on the theoretical defining of the economic cooperation, this article makes some differentiation and analysis about the theoretical relationship on economic cooperation, clarifying some existing fussy misunderstandings concerning it and analyzing the advantages and disadvantages of the cooperation between Taiwan and western mainland. At the same time, the author defines the selection of major industries and regions in the cooperation and constructs the policy-implementation mechanism in the cooperation, including the mechanism of Taiwan investment transfer, regional profit coordination mechanism, the cost-sharing of investment transfer, industry selection and benefit conduction mechanism, etc.
