Its role has been increasingly attracted worldwide attention, and internationally recognized as "everlasting" industries. In the United States, Canada, Japan, Finland, Sweden and other developed economies, the paper industry has become one of ten pillar industries for national economy. Paper-making industry related degree, involving forestry, agriculture, machinery manufacturing, chemical industry, thermal power, transportation, environmental protection and other industries. It can enhance upstream and downstream industries. Today the level of paper and paperboard production and consumption is taken as a measure of a country's modernization level and is one important indicator of the level of civilization. Involving in technology, capital, resources, energy-intensive, how a paper-making enterprises enhances the competitiveness of enterprises under the conditions, and maximum extent possible to overcome the negative factors, it is the key to the sustainable development of paper-making enterprises. In the short term, Chinese papermaking enterprises, regardless of fiber raw materials, structure or construction of capital, can not be effectively addressed in the overall. while the backdrop of international paper corporate giants influx the Chinese market, Chinese papermaking enterprises need to know ourselves great .it is not only necessary to the proper scientific evaluation of their competitive edge and its constraints, but also to understand the competitiveness of its competitors and its constraints, find a reasonable place to enhance the level of the competitiveness.This paper conducted a study on the competitiveness of Chinese papermaking enterprises, based following aspects of:Chapter I is an introduction, and describes the research topics, propose, purpose, meaning, the main content and its intention to address issues and structural arrangements, the use of research methods and research innovations.Chapter II of the paper reviews and evaluates theories of the competitiveness of enterprises related. There are a large number of theoretical and empirical application on the competitiveness of enterprises carried out at home and abroad, and the paper-making enterprise competitiveness problems from a theoretical and empirical research is still at the exploratory stage. According to the industrial economics, enterprises of different trades have their own unique mettle and industrial environment, different from its influence. Based on different point of view of the competitiveness of enterprises, such an the economics theory ,content and structure, continued competing advantages, core competitiveness, competitiveness evaluation, This chapter summarizes theoretical study with a view to the competitiveness of enterprises and paper-making enterprises to make more comprehensive overview of the theory and laid on the paper-making enterprises through competitive evaluation, determine the theoretical basis and early-warning.Chapter III analyzes the paper-making enterprise competitiveness factors, and evaluation methods. Paper first analyzes the competition among enterprises of the industrial environment, using Porter's "five forces" model and the "SWOT" analysis tool to explore the formation mechanism of paper-making enterprise competitiveness, as well as the impact of papermaking enterprise competitiveness factor, and so on. According to the characteristics of paper-making enterprises, combined with the main impact factors of the competitiveness of papermaking enterprises, the chapter takes into account data availability and operability, and selects only some of the major indicators as evaluation system, as much as possible scientifically assess the competitiveness of paper-making enterprises situation. The papers also assesses the modern evaluation methods of enterprises, such as neural networks, fuzzy comprehensive evaluation method, hierarchical analysis, principal component analysis, factor analysis models and technologies, and so on. The above three chapters constitute the theoretical chapter of this paper.The next part of this article is about evidence and application analysis, explores China's paper-making enterprise competitiveness evaluation, the issue of discrimination and early-warning.Chapterâ…£conducts a comprehensive analysis of the competitiveness on listed company of China's paper from 1998 to 2008. First, the chapter build the competitiveness evaluation model of china's paper listed companies, that is, factor analysis model; the following content is about listed companies on China's paper described the overall situation analysis; then the chapter conducts an empirical analysis of the competitiveness of China's paper listed companies from 1998 to 2008, and the competitiveness of their annual evaluation and sorting. Further this chapter uses of research data to develop analysis, and discusses the key factor in the competitiveness of enterprises and changes in characteristics, and the overall contribution degree of competitiveness of enterprises and the margin contribution degree of different factors.Chapter V builds the competitiveness discrimination model,and analyses it. Based on the evaluation results of the chapterâ…£,the paper takes grouping analysis of the listed companies competitiveness from 1998 to 2008; takes stepwise discriminate method for screening variables, applies Fish Criterion to constructed Fish discriminate function, as well as Applies Beys Criterion to constructed Bayesian discriminate function; use self-validation and cross-validation methods on Fish discriminate function and Bayesian discriminate function, discriminate effect was examined.Chapter VI detects the reason of the competitiveness of china's paper listed companies changes. On the main problems of company's competitiveness and change, this chapter discusses the impact of paper listing company's competitiveness and changes in the strength of the main factors from a single sample and a single perspective of the company. And finds its influence from the kinds of indicators, and classifies listed companies to explore the reasons for the changes in competitiveness, enrich the theoretical studies the competitiveness of enterprises.Chapter VII build early-warning models about the competitiveness risks of papermaking enterprises. This section selects 6 poor performance company, 17 normal performance of the company, 16 research variables data as data sources to establish an early-warning model of performance, based on multivariate discriminate techniques, builds three early-warning function, that is, standardized fish function, beys (i.e. Fisher's linear) function, non-standard fish discriminate function, using two kinds of self-validation and cross-validation methods for model validation verification.Chapter VIII proposes some countermeasures to enhance the competitiveness of papermaking enterprises. Based on previous sections, that is, the Chinese paper-making enterprise competitiveness factors, the key factor and its analysis of key indicators on strengthening the competitiveness of China's paper making enterprises. Managed to maintain in the new environment, sustained rapid and healthy development. From the following four, such as the competitive evaluation, competitiveness discrimination, changes in competitiveness and competitiveness early-warning, this chapter proposes management measures or countermeasures to enhance the competitiveness of.Chapter IX is a follow-up conclusions and recommendations of the study. This section summarizes the findings of this article, reflects some research problems and proposed follow-up recommendations of the study.Through theoretical analysis and empirical research, this paper's major research findings and contributions are:(1) China's paper listed companies was evaluated and ranked, so that businesses and investors have a more objective understanding to situation and competitiveness of the paper-making enterprises.(2)Build a paper discriminate function to analysis the competitiveness of enterprises, facilitating the investors to determine the competitiveness of enterprises.(3) Build a risk early-warning model of the competitiveness of enterprises for businesses to determine business risk management, to enhance the dynamic management.(4)Different single indicators of enterprises competitiveness have difference impact between the total contribution and net contribution, and all single indicators also vary widely, the paper explain the different indicators for a marginal contribution to the competitiveness of enterprises of different. A single indicator for each contribution and the net contribution to the overall ranking is not exactly the same; two kinds of sorting the results are not significantly correlated.(5)The greatest contribution to the competitiveness of papermaking enterprises is mainly net profit, it indicates that China's current stage of papermaking enterprises should do big first, and do stronger hollowly.(6)In various development stages and the impact of the external environment, the papermaking enterprises should gain a competitive edge based a different focus. (7) At present, the impact factors of china's papermaking enterprise competitiveness have the following factors, such as enterprise-based strength, business profitability, business development capacity, enterprise solvency and business operational skills. (8) The competitiveness of enterprises showing the volatility of short-term and long-term growth trends coexist. (9) Rate of indicators is greater than 0 in Paper-making enterprises whose competitive is strong, while the weak competitiveness of the paper-making enterprises whose rate of indicators is less than 0; the absolute index value (i.e. net assets, net profit) is greater than 2 in which papermaking companies have strong competitive, the absolute index value between 0 and 1 in which the papermaking enterprises have medium competitiveness. its absolute index value (net assets, net profit) is less than 0 in which the paper-making enterprise have weak competitiveness (10) Some indicators of the value of optimization can promote the paper-making enterprise to enhance enterprise competitiveness and continuing to help companies enhance the core competencies, this article will referred to these indicators as persistent growth indicators; some indicators of the value of optimization can promote the paper-making enterprise that year enhancing competitiveness, but the next year is not sustainable, these indicators will be referred to as a temporary paper-based indicators of growth. (11) Paper listed companies evolves gradually, strong continuously being stronger, weak continuously being weeded. At the same time Paper-making enterprises show significant clustering features. Papermaking industry focus gradually to the east coast, the most competitive enterprises in eastern coastal areas, central second, the weakest north.Finally, there are following innovation in research methods and characteristics : (1) Introducing factor research methods, the paper conducts an evaluation of the competitiveness of listed companies, giving the competitiveness ranking of listed companies for 11 consecutive years, (2) using a single index and single-sample comparative study and empirical testing, the paper analyses the reasons for changes in the competitiveness of China's papermaking enterprises, come to the key factor which affect China's paper-making enterprise competitiveness; (3) using two methods, namely, Fish discrimination and Beys discrimination , build a Fish discriminate function about paper-making enterprise competitiveness and the Bayesian discriminate function; (4) using multivariate discriminate techniques, establish early-warning model of paper-making enterprise competitiveness. This thesis is not limited to qualitative analysis, but to explore factors of affecting the enterprises competitiveness, starting with a comprehensive analysis of paper-making business competitiveness from the company's capital structure level, liquidity risk, cash flow, profitability, business vitality, development capacity, , and the contribution degree of its various factors on competitiveness of papermaking enterprises.
