In recent years, people's income has risen sharply with rapid economic growth, which makes their life better. Meanwhile, we have made increasing progress in reforming the social ensuring system, which makes the citizens'basic living standard higher. However, there still exist some problems we shouldn't ignore, such as, the income divide between town and country between different localities and between different trades is widening all the time. High income has appeared in some trades. Differences in personal income are in an unreasonable degree. What's more, the income divide has been widening increasingly, which will become a hidden danger to the long-term social stability and the lasting economic development. Therefore, we must narrow the income divide among Chinese citizens by adopting vigorous measures and formulating effective policies. In addition, it will lay a foundation for socialist construction and harmonious society.Through theoretical analysis and empirical studies, the paper mainly discusses the income allocation theories from all trades and professions. By them, the author carries out a research into the Chinese changing income allocation system and analyzes the rationality and deficiency of the Chinese national income allocation system since 1978 in terms of cause and effect. This paper consists of seven chapters, Chapter One is an introduction. Chapter Two is a summary of literature at home and abroad; Chapter Three study the complexity and particularity on national income distribution gap, under the framework of Marxist theory; Chapter Four sets forth the relationship between the income divide and the consumption. Chapter Five deals mainly with the present conditions of the rich-poor gap, and the negative impact on economic growth; Chapter Six puts forward suggestions of narrowing the divide between the rich and poor. Chapter Seven comes to a remarks for the doctoral thesis, and pointed out that this paper should be further studied. This paper has three innovations. Firstly, the author studies thoroughly and comprehensively the problem of the income gap by linking the Marxist labor value theory and allocation theory with the modern theories in western economy, pointing out the inevitability of income gap. Secondly, author gives in-depth analysis of Chinese current widening of the income gap, as well as the underlying reasons, from the aspect of overall income distribution and duality of the phenomenon of the income gap. Thirdly, indicates the practical issues of Chinese current social polarization and solutions to these problems, which has important theoretical significance.
