Traffic and transportation is pillar industry of national economy. Comprehensivetransportation is becoming the development direction of China transportation. As an importantpart of comprehensive transportation system, comprehensive passenger hub is an essentialjoint area of various transportation modes for passeenger gathering, dispersing andtransferring, which is also very important to connect urban traffic and city transportation. Atpresent, China has built a lot of comprehensive passenger hubs, but their operation still existsmany problems, for example comprehensive passenger hubs don’t adapt to the rapiddevelopment of city, city transportation, urban traffic and increasing pasenger travel demand.Moreover, the hub transfer system cannot link transportation routes fluently. Varioustransportation modes as well as transportation modes and urban traffic, private traffic cannotconnect effectively. In order to make comprehensive transportation system operate efficientlyand realize seamless transportation, studying and putting forward new methodology ofcomprehensive passenger hub is especially urgent to solve the problem of unconsistent andcondradictory planning in comprehensive passenger hub planing, construction and operation.The paper is guided by system engineering theory, where qualitative analysis andquantitative computation are combined. With the help of System Theory and Synergetics, thesystem composition, sub-system function and their coordination relationship are analyzed. Indemand forecast section, transportation demand forecast based on district multiple source ODmatrix and Markov demand forecast of various transportation modes are proposed. Based onthe forecast demand,2-phase hub layout planning model with multiple objectivesoptimization is built. And Genetic Algorithm (GA) is introduced to get the solution.FLEXSIM is utilized to simulate the operation situation of Hohhot passenger hub. FinallyMulti-Agent System theory is introduced to analyze the management mode of comprehensivepassenger hub. The paper incudes the following contents.1. System Theory and Synergetics are used to analyze comprehensive passenger hubsystem, including connotion, classification, function, system composition and coordinationbetween system and environment, as well as subsystems.2. Transportation demand forecast of comprehensive passenger hub. The district coveredby transportation network is firstly divided into different OD districts and the district isreferred to a city. Then transportation demand forecast based on district multiple source ODmatrix is implemented to find the transportation demand of the planning year. Markov transfer matrix is defined with least aquares method to forecast the demand of various transportationmodes. Finally the hub station capacity is forecasted.3. Comprehensive passenger hub layout plan. On the basis of analyzing factors affectingcomprehensive passenger hub layout and comparing various traditional methods,2-phase hublayout planning model with multiple objectives optimization is built. After the first phasemodel, the candidate hubs are chosen. Then GA is recommended to find the optimal solutionof the second phase model.4. Comprehensive passenger hub station plan and design. On the basis of studyingprocess, organizational method and layout mode of comprehensive passenger hub station, thehub layout design optimization model is built with the target of minimum passenger transfercost. Finally evaluation criteria are designed and Fuzzy Comprehensive Evaluation method isutilized to assess the hub station layout project.5. Hohhot comprehensive passenger hub is simulated by Flexsim as a case. To make themodel more real with3D visual effect and Flexsim more suitable for comprehensivepassenger hub,3D MAX is applied to implement Flexsim secondary development. ThenHohhot comprehensive passenger hub is simulated. With Flexsim powerful function of datastatistics, the operation situation of waiting room, ticket office, ticket station, parking lot andpassenger boarding area are all analyzed with statistics.6. Management mode of comprehensive passenger hub based on MAS thoery. Based onthe introduction of MAS theory, the comprehensive passenger hub organizational negotiationmodel is built. Then the management mode of comprehensive passenger hub based on MAS isproposed, including building comprehensive transportation branch, comprehensive passengerhub information system, improving finance mode, etc.
