Regional architectural culture is continually evolving open system, which iscross-regional, cross-cultural categories to absorbing, eclectic. It’s not only inherit the localcultural traditions, but also for different regions of the outstanding architectural culture,including a wide range of other artistic traditions absorbed and contemporary cultural thoughtand creative ideas and architectural integration. In the contemporary context of globalization,to strengthen regional architecture and cultural study and research, found the culture that fitwith the current spirit of the times, maintain the buildings and the local style, the closerelationship between the environment and coordination, this highlights the region personalityand charm passed along with the practical significance. The proposed regional architecture,although shows resistance attitude and critical spirit to globalization, but it is based on thebackground and premise of globalization, it integrates multi-level content and relationship ofcontemporary regional architecture, and better reflects the specific circumstances of designactivities, it is the specific methods of deal with globalization and regional, modern andtraditional conflict, it is also practical means of coordinating the relationship betweensubjective and objective in the regional architecture activities.This paper selected regional as the perspective study, discussing the Pearl River Deltaregion’s environmental and cultural impact to contemporary museum architecture, based onthe regional elements of interpretation and classification of multiple values for the main entrypoint to study the manifestations of museum building of Pearl River Delta region differentfrom morphological characteristics of other regions, and to analyze the relationship betweenthe morphological changes and the times of the Pearl River Delta museum, although thetraditional type of architectural typology studies can not cover the enormous progress forcontemporary museum architecture, but the change happens on museum building is thedirectly expression of latest development of museum.This paper is divided into two parts, first part consists of Chapters1and2, is theoreticaland conceptual basis for paper; the second part is the specific design methods and expressionresearch and propose coping strategies, including the third, four, five, six chapters andconclusions. The first chapter discusses the purpose and significance of research for this project, the object of research, objectives and methods, generalize and combed thedevelopment status of the museum and the museum architecture, and summarized thetheoretical development of the museum building at domestic and foreign, and finally discussthe research content and research framework of projects. Chapter II firstly summarizedtheoretical development of regional architecture at domestic and foreign and discussed therelationship among cultural diversity, modernity and regionalism, and do a review for creationpractice for the current domestic and international museum in the area of regional aspects, atlast, made a background analysis for the Pearl River Delta region’s natural geographic features,history environment, architecture cultural identity and traditional architectural features, aswell as traditional construction techniques and decorative arts. Chapter III analyzed theoverall layout of the museum features the Pearl River Delta region from several aspects of thenatural environment, human environment and the external space environment, and discuss thefactors affecting the overall layout of the museum. Chapter IV studied on regionalcharacteristics of external image of the Pearl River Delta Regional museum building fromfour aspects of building external morphology, natural and cultural factors that affectconstruction techniques, material features. Chapter V discusses the regional environmentalinformation, exhibition space adaptability, light environment and green ecological factors ofthe Pearl River Delta region exhibit influence the plan museum organization and spatialdistribution of this area. Chapter VI based on the features analysis, summarization andconclusion of the Pearl River Delta regional museum’s architecture, gives a coping strategiesfor the museum architecture under a new era in the context of new theories, discuss thedevelopment trends of the museum, proposed an open regional museum architectural creationto respond the new changes of natural and human environment, and introduce severalmuseum project under construction at the Pearl River Delta region. The section of Conclusionsummarizes and clarifies the main conclusions and innovation point of this project research.
