Concrete was used in a wide range of applications in the structures of military facilities because of its good performance. For the destruction of the concrete target, kinetic energy projectile can be used, which penetrating into concrete target to the desired depth, then detonated the explosive and use of energy of explosive to damage the target. However, due to the non-uniform and non-linear characteristics of the concrete, the accurate analysis of penetration for kinetic energy projectile against concrete target become more complex and difficult issues to the field of impact dynamics, also is attracted all national widespread concern.Research methods currently can be divided into theory study, test study and numerical calculation. Theory study on the penetration process, although it can give a qualitative explanation, but can not give a theoretical solution for the strongly non-linear problems. Test study need high cost and long time, it is difficult to providing middle information, and the test result data is discrete. Numerical calculation can detailed simulate the penetration process, the accurateness of simulation results related not only with the algorithm, but also with the material constitutive relations and the used parameters. Due to the non-continuity and non-uniformity about the concrete materials, the existed concrete constitutive relations can’t reflect the complex dynamic behavior of materials for the penetration process, this lead the calculation precision or accuracy is not high. Because of the mechanism of penetration of kinetic energy projectile against concrete target is not very clear, the non-continuity and non-uniformity of the concrete materials and discrete of penetration result data, penetration process for kinetic energy projectile against concret target can look as a grey system.In this paper, application of the grey system theory on penetration for kinetic energy projectile against the concrete target was studied. The sensitivity parameters of the concrete HJC constitutive model were determined by numerical calculation qualitatively and grey relational analysis quantitatively. The values of the sensitive parameters about HJC constitutive model were determined by the RFPA software and other methods, it can reflect the mechanical properties of concrete materials accurately, and it can provide support for numerical calculation of penetration damage about the kinetic energy projectile penetrating into concrete target. By the application of grey relational analysis and grey relational clustering analysis, the main factors were determined and the congeneric main factors were classified, it can reduce the complexity of the penetration system. Combined with the analysis of existing experimental results, the grey simulation and prediction model GM (1, n) about damage effect for penetration of kinetic energy projectile against concrete target was set up, which can well and truly simulate and predict the penetration damage effects. By instances, the GM (1, n) model can predict damage effect for penetration of kinetic energy projectile against concrete target accurately, it can provided a new way to simulate and predict damage effect for penetration of kinetic energy projectile against concrete target.
