The operation and control technology is key to the safety and efficiency of long-distance water delivery projects, it is the brain of such projects and decides whether the projects can achieve their desired goals. In order to fully play the benefits of South-to-North Water Transfer Project (SNWTP), reach the designed goal, ensure the safety operation, highly efficient control system that fits the feature and operation condition of SNWTP need to be developed so that the confliction of water supply, water demand and canal capacity could be balanced and the water supply plan’s safety and efficiency could be ensured. On the bases of a state key scientific research project "study on key technique for coupled water quantity and quality management and emergency response of SNWTP with field demonstration" and an application project "the study and establishment of water supply and control system for the A project of the SNWTP middle route", this thesis tries to study this system in the aspects of water supply plan, hydraulic simulation model, control algorithm design, system integration and other aspects, and apply these theories and methods to the Beijing-to-Shijiazhuang segment of SNWTP. Main content includes:(1) Analyze the necessity of canal control, summarize the current theory and technology of it and analyze the main feature and difficulty of the control of long-distance water delivery canals.(2) Research and developed the SNWTP water-supply plan generation model. Based on the adjustable water process of source reservoir, water demand process and canal capacity, project goal and priority of different customer, this model can generate the supply plan for year and month, also scroll correction can be made based on the implementation of last pace and real-time water runoff conditions.(3) Research and developed the SNWTP hydraulic simulation model of the main canals. The flow condition in main canals includes open-canal and pressured flow. This paper employs Saint-Venant equation for open-canal flow and low-pressure pipe flow equation for pipe flow in structures like inverted syphon. The discrete and solute methodology is to divide the main canals in pools by check gates, use unsteady flow equations for pools and gate discharges equation for boundary condition, the nonlinear coupling problem is solved by double interaction method.(4) Research and developed the SNWTP feed-forward strategy on daily operation. Based on the entrance and exit volume and pool volume change, this theis proposed a methodology to calculate the discharge of upstream and downstream check gate. Also the routed discharge is coupled and coordinated between pools to form a centralized feed-forward strategy.(5) Research and developed the SNWTP feed-back algorithm for main canal daily operation. Based on the survey and analyze of canal control method currently in use, this thesis proposed a multi-nested volume and water level three point control algorithm that fits the feature and requirement of SNWTP main canal system.(6) The construct and application of water supply and control system. Database, computer network, GIS technology is used to built a integrated interface to manage and maintain all kinds of models and data, to achieve the function of water supply plan generation, real-time gate control and etc.
