Appropriated Construction Strategy And Design Pattern Of Ecological Rural House In Eastern Region Of Gansu Province

Nowdays the phenomenon of unchecked and disordered new countrysideconstruction is common in China, which lead to energy consumption increased,pollution aggravating, cultivated land decreased and traditional culture lost. How toconstruct high quality, healthy and comfortable rural houses without destroyingenvironment and resources, and how to make rural house construction sustainable, arethe urgent and strategic issues to be solved in China.Lots of countryside in eastern region of Gansu province is undeveloped, with shortresources and less developed economy. In the background of present economicenvironment, analyzing the current problems in rural residential construction,researching construction strategy and design pattern of rural house in terms ofsustainable view for eastern region of Gansu province are very necessary and important,since this kind research will help to ensuring the harmonious development betweencountryside construction and environment by improving the ecological performance,utility, safety, preserving the local architectural feature and decreasing the buildingenergy consumption to realize the “Four-saving”aims of “land-saving”,“energy-saving”,“water-saving” and “material-saving”.This thesis takes rural houses of eastern region in Gansu province as researchsubject. Based on reviews of ecological architectural theory, appropriate technologytheory and other related theories and practice, it summarizes the traditional building types and defines the confines of traditional rural house in that region. Then it analyzesseveral architectural features of typical traditional rural timber-earth house, such asspace, function, structure, esthetic and thermal performance. Based on the result ofanalyses, it points out that the traditional house is appropriate in utility, ecology andesthetic, but is not quite fit for sturdiness and economy. The thesis lists some typialcases of new rural house now, by using scientific experiment methods it investigatesand analyzes the physical environment character, it draws conclusion that the newcountryside house is appropriate in utility and sturdiness, but not suitable foreconomy,ecology and esthetic. Then it constructs appropriate strategies in social culture,economy, natural environment aspects from the viewpoint of complex ecosystem,presenting appropriate design pattern for ecological rural house to save land, energy,water and material. Next, it designs new projects for new countryside houseconstruction and sets up comparing models. At last, it compares temperature, energyconsumption, lighting and economy difference among traditional, new rural house anddesign project by ECOTECT software. As a result, it proves that the presentingappropriate construction strategies and design patterns are rational and efficient so thatthe research conclusions could provide theoretical guideline and necessary technicalsupport for eastern region of Gansu province countryside sustainable update in theprocess of urbanization.
