The concrete face rock-fill dams is growing in popularity due to the characteristics of simple structure, low cost, fast construction. However, the increasing scale and technical difficulties of construction projects provide big challenge for the management of construction schedule and quality. How to control construction schedule and quality with comprehensive consideration of various influence factors and make precise improvement measures is the important issues to be considered in the construction process. The information flow of concrete face rock-fill dams consists of construction scheme parameters, construction mechanical parameters, environmental information and construction materials parameters etc. With this schedule and quality control can be realized through collection, analysis, dissemination and management of construction information. This paper focuses on the construction process of concrete face rock-fill dams and proposes the theory and method of schedule and quality control based on information flow with a case study. The main results are presented:(1) In order to solve the problem that traditional management of schedule lacks the analysis of influence factors in detail and accurate schedule control in real time, this paper proposes the schedule control model of concrete face rock-fill dams based on information flow. Based on the schedule information collection and statistical analysis, the method for real-time construction simulation of concrete face rock-fill dams and the real-time construction schedule control strategy is put forward.The construction schedule of concrete face rock-fill dams is influenced by factors such as construction methods, mechanical parameters and environment.It will result in the uncertainties of construction schedule. Traditional schedule control menthod uses probability estimation to simulate various influence factors, which makes the analysis and real-time control of construction efficiency more difficult. In order to solve the above problems, this paper proposes the method for schedule control of concrete face rock-fill dams based on information flow. The information collection contains monitoring information in real time, construction ledger, designing information, construction organization and so on, which provides various information source and collection method. Moreover, based on the schedule information collection and statistical analysis, the method for real-time construction simulation of concrete face rock-fill dams is proposed, which imporves the accuracy of schedule simulation and real-time schedule control.(2) Considering the problem that current research adopts random sampling method to evaluate construction quality and ignores the uncertainty of material parameters. This paper proposes the quality contrl model of concrete face rock-fill dams based on information flow. The quality control model uses artificial neural networks, imporved bootstrap and global sensitive analysis method to improve the accuracy of quality evaluation and provides theoretical basis for quality control in practice.The real-time monitoring of construction process has significantly improved the quality control of concrete face rockfill dams. However, current evaluation of construction quality is a random sampling method which is unable to fully assess quality and lacks of detailed research of influence factors and quality indicators. In order to solve those problems, this paper proposes the quality control model for concrete face rockfill dams based on information flow. The information collected contains rolling parameters and material parameters, which can fully consider the influence factors of construction quality. The the quality control menthod is proposed based on artificial neural networks and imporved bootstrap method, which imporves the objectivity and accuracy of quality evaluation. Moreover, the global sensitiity analysis method is applied to analyze the uncertainty of material parameters and provides theoretical basis for quality control in practice.(3) Considering the situation that current researches of construction schedule and quality control are insuffiecent in the consideration of construction influence factors, this paper proposes a coupled model of schedule and quality control for concrete face rock-fill dams based on information flow. The coupled method of schedule and quality control is proposed based on genetic algorithm after the analysis of relationship between influence factors and schedule and quality target.Current researches of construction schedule and quality control focus on the direct relationship between schedule target and quality target, rather than the effect mechanism between influence factors and schedule and quality control, which makes the application of control strategy more difficult. Focused on this problem, this paper proposes a coupled model of schedule and quality control for concrete face rock-fill dams based on information flow and analyzes information flow according to the hierarchical dimension, workflow dimension and time dimension. Compared with the traditional schedule and quality control method, this model can provide explicit control strategy based on the analysis of inner links between influence factors, schedule and quality target, and realize the balance between schedule and quality target.(4) After the analysis of information management and schedule and quality control workflow, this paper proposes an information model for the construction of concrete face rock-fill dams. A web-based information management system is developed for schedule and quality control of concrete face rock-fill dams with the combination of real-time monitoring technology.There exists plenty of information in the construction process of hydraulic project from various sources. In addition, the information has different types and is generated in great velocity. Traditional management of construction information mainly depends on electric documents, which is difficult to retrieve, share and analyze. In order to solve those problems, this paper focuses on the construction supervisor and analyzes the organization, information communication, business workflow and information flow of construction supervisor. System architecture of schedule and quality control is established based on those analysis results. Furthermore, the system is developed and applied in a rock-fill dam. Based on the real-time monitoring system of rolling construction of rock-fill dams, the schedule and quality information is collected and analyzed. At last, the analysis of construction efficiency guide the schedule control and the correlation and sensitivity between influence factors and quality target guide the quality control.
