In1982in Kyoto, Japan, a Korean scholar Lee Nae-Yang published the Korean Manuscript of Zhu Zi yulei (Classified Conversations of Master Zhu) Huizhou Edition which had been stored in Kyushu University Library. This work is a new resource significant to the studies of Zhu Xi. This Korean manuscript is of a similar scale to the Li Jingde Edition of Zhu Zi yulei, and they have almost the same juan volumes, except some disparities in juan101,juan103, juan138, juan139and juan140. However, there are many important contents in the Korean manuscripts that the Li Jingde edition does not have. For instance, anas of Master Zhu that are included in the Korean manuscript but are absent in the Li Jingde edition; anas of Master Zhu that are recorded in both editions, while the Korean manuscript ones are more detailed. The Korean manuscript also has foreword to the Zhu Zi yulei Huizhou Edition by Lii Wu in1251, as well as notations and postscripts to the revised version of Zhu Zi yulei Huizhou Edition by Wei Keyu in1254.Based upon abundant data, this thesis argues that the newly discovered Korean Manuscript of Zhu Zi yulei Huizhou Edition is a transcription of the1254revision of Zhu Zi yulei Huizhou Edition. Between1481and1482, the1254revision of Zhu Zi yulei Huizhou Edition was spread to Korea, and was then published in1515. Afterwards it was transcribed in monasteries by a group of Korean intellectuals, as the Korean Manuscript of Zhu Zi yulei Huizhou Edition. Between1592and1597, woodcut printing plates of the Korean Manuscript of Zhu Zi yulei Huizhou Edition was damaged during the two Japanese invasions of Korea. The only existing copy was spread to the Owari-han Library of Japan. This edition was then collected privately by Kusumoto Masatsugu, and the stored in Kyushu University Library, afterwards published by Lee Nae-Yang.According to the Korean manuscript, this thesis restores the1254revision of Zhu Zi yulei Huizhou Edition which was lost. In fact, there have been two versions of Zhu Zi yulei Huizhou Edition. In1252, Zhang Wenhu and others of the Ziyang Shuyuan College edited and published Zhu Zi yulei Huizhou Edition, namely the1252first edition. In1254, Wei Keyu proofread and republished Zhu Zi yulei Huizhou Edition, namely the1254revision of Zhu Zi yulei Huizhou Edition.Li Jingde asserted that he referenced six books while compiling Zhu Zi yulei. But in fact, he confounded the Shu and Huizhou editions, and only referenced the1252first edition of Zhu Zi yulei Huizhou Edition. Therefore, the Zhu Zi yulei compiled by Li Jingde was quite similar to the Korean manuscript. Differences between the two were originated from supplementaries and revisions of the1254revision of Zhu Zi yulei Huizhou Edition.The Korean manuscript distinguishes the1252first edition and the1254revision of Zhu Zi yulei Huizhou Edition, and makes it clear how Li Jingde compiled Zhu Zi yulei. Li Jingde ambiguously acknowledged the Huizhou edition. He did not even declare his reference of this original version. In fact, he merely referenced the1252first edition, ignoring the1254revision and an abundance of anas of Master Zhu recorded in the1254version. Moreover, he ignored at least25editions of anas of Master Zhu which are now los, while his reference to10other editions of anas of Master Zhu was incomplete. Both are major loss of Zhu Zi yulei compilation. Furthermore, there are many mistakes and omissions in records of Master Zhu’s students’names by Li Jingde, which is an obstruction to studies of Master Zhu’s students’activities. Based upon this Korean manuscript, we should reassess Li Jingde’s compilation of Zhu Zi yulei.As a significant newly found literature, the Korean Manuscript of Zhu Zi yulei Huizhou Edition includes abundant firsthand materials for the studies of Zhu Zi yulei. Through comparisons between the Korean Manuscript of Zhu Zi yulei Huizhou Edition and the Li Jingde edition of Zhu Zi yulei, this thesis compiles an abundance of anas of Master Zhu that are included in the Korean manuscript but are omitted in the Li Jingde edition; as well as anas of Master Zhu that are recorded in both editions, while the Korean manuscript ones are more detailed. Moreover, this thesis also includes different characters, phrases and sentences between the Korean manuscript and the Li Jingde edition. This materials are important literatures, and have supplied new data for studies on Song Dynasty dialects, words and expressions. To conclude, this thesis examines ways by which the Korean Manuscript of Zhu Zi yulei Huizhou Edition was spread, coordinates its textual contents, and clarifies the origins and diffusions of Zhu Zi yulei Huizhou versions. Moreover, this thesis illuminates the philological importance of the Korean Manuscript of Zhu Zi yulei Huizhou Edition, and restores how Li Jingde compiled Zhu Zi yulei, through comparisons between the Korean Manuscript of Zhu Zi yulei Huizhou Edition and the Li Jingde edition of Zhu Zi yulei,...
