The aim of this dissertation is to research the relationship between adapted animation and the literary canons. Literary canons are important resources for animation creation, and at the same time, animation serves as one of the best mediums for canon inheritance because of the special expressing method and high speed of transmission. So, literary canons enrich the animation creation, and the latter reiterates the canon in its own way. They are inseparably interconnected each other, and realize the canonization of animation and inter-media transformation of literature simultaneously.As for the structure, this dissertation follows up the thread of "the aspect of animation, the technique of adaptation, and cultural inheritance", and it is divided into eight chapters. Chapter One is the introduction, and the author of the dissertation presents the overview of the animation studies and summarizes the significance of this kind of research. Chapter Two and Chapter Three probe into the aspect of the animation adaptation and mainly research the two kinds of things, one is the object of adaptation and the other is the writer of the adaptation. The author of the dissertation points out that the animation adaptation is greatly influenced by the social context, the value of the society and the audiences of the animated products. The author thinks that concept of "animation author" is very important idea of adaptation, and tries to explore the adaptation of literature from the perspective of adaptation writer.Chapter Four and Chapter Five place particular emphasis on the technique of adaptation. The different mode of narration makes the animation do some linguistic transformation in the aspects of characterization, narration and structure. In order to guide the audience to have the right ethical orientation, the author uses the ethical literary criticism and thinks that it is necessary to carry out "ethical filtration" in the process of animation adaptation from the literary canons.Based on the previous discussion, the next two chapters, Chapter Six and Chapter Seven, further strengthen the significance of cultural inheritance and the value of adaptation from literary canons. To the development of animated films, the adaptation from literary canons provides a favorable basic, and the ignorance of this kind of adaptation will surely weaken the growth of animation industry. To the cultural inheritance, the animated films and their "mistakes" forming in the cross-cultural adaptation play a special role in the fertilization of culture. So, in the last part, the author concludes that literary canons are the important resources for the development of animation industry, while the animation is the effective new media of transmission for the popularization of the literary canons and serves as a significant platform for cultural inheritance of literary canons.
