Since the new culture movement, the intelligentsia had the fundamental consensus that was to discover and reform the rural China would be the future road of China, and the new literature writers also participate in the national reform and society advancement by writing and expressing the local China. Many of these works reflect the Chinese traditional rural society from different angles; constructing the literature’s local world through the narration. This dissertation tries to reflect four themes,including the local scenery, the gentry, the peasants and the local customs from the perspectives of enlightenment, the revlolution and the liberalism, reducting the rural social realities and reconstructing the local literature narration as far as possible through the dialogue of the literature text and the history text.The dissertation has three parts, the introduction, the main part and the conclusion. The introduction discusses why this dissertation chose this topic, reviews some relevant research, and the development of the concept of ‘country literature’, and puts forward some creation that this dissertation might offer.The first chapter discusses the local scenery narration. By offering direct local scenery from different angles, the local scenery presented diversified art pictures, behind which lied in Chinese modern literature writers’ views on the rural China.The second chapter discusses the gentry’s narration. As the special social and cultural group in the Chinese traditional local society, the gentry group emerged different images in modern local literature works. This chapter tries to interpret and understand the real reason of the gentry’ images presented from multiple perspectives, through inspecting the interlocks, the realty existence, the contrary and the coincidence between the real existence and the literature narration.The third chapter discusses the peasants’ narration. As the main part of the local society, peasants’ absolutely became leading roles in the local literature works. But limited by culture and social status, they could only be expressed and presented passively by artificial mediums. As abstract overall concept, the writers’ perspectives decided they would choose the parts which they wanted to narrate, so each perspective would be regarded or intentionally portrayed as the whole target.The fourth chapter discusses the local customs narration. The local customs is the important part of the traditional culture, and important reflection of the local cultural spirits. The writers’ selective describing illustrated the complexity of the local customs narration, and also expressed their basic views on the local cultural spirits.The conclusion part is the summary of the multi-perspectives modern local literature narration. From the four themes, including the local scenery, the gentry, the peasants and the local customs, and three perspectives, this dissertation integrates a complete local narration research, reconstructing as far as possible a rural society of the Republic period through the conversation between the history texts and the literature texts on the four themes at the same time.
