This paper tries to summarize and discuss translation, introduction, research and acceptance of the works of Mo Yan in Vietnam. A review of existing translation and problems in Vietnam of the works of Chinese contemporary writer Mo Yan is made in this dissertation. In the communication process, the works of Mo Yan in Vietnam experienced Vietnamese readers, research experts, various aspects of the writer, the impact to Vietnam, and all these are discussed in the dissertation. This paper is divided into three main parts. Part one is the first chapter, which discusses the China contemporary literature in Vietnam and Mo Yan in the overseas study and communication. The second chapter of this thesis is the most important part, which is about translation, transmission, reception and study of Mo Yan in Vietnam. The rest of the third chapter, the fourth chapter and the fifth chapter is to study Mo Yan’s representative works in the Vietnam. The first chapter is about Mo Yan who belongs to the China new age literature, which is the turning time of literature in China. To describe the germination period of translation of Chinese contemporary literary in Vietnam is the way to get a comprehensive understanding of Mo Yan, his identity, and how readers accept him in overseas. In 2001, Mo Yan’s work "Abundant Breast Fat Buttock" had caused great repercussions in Vietnam, but then no specific study on that. In the second chapter, I make a summary of the research of Mo Yan’s work in Vietnam, hoping to summarize online reports, written research articles, and my interview study about that.In the third chapter, the fourth chapter and the fifth chapter, I study Mo Yan’s three novels:"Abundant Breast Fat Buttock", "The Sandalwood Punishment" and "Frog". Although, a lot of (more than 30) Mo Yan’s works were translated into Vietnamese, but the three novels published in Vietnam was popular. I decide to write the study of the three novels in Vietnam, hoping to help understand how Vietnamese accept and study the author Mo Yan.The content of the third chapter is analysis of "Abundant Breast Fat Buttock". The methods, such as analysis, statistics, and interview and so on, are used to show the way of translation of Mo Yan’s novel and the reaction of readers and researchers in Vietnam. To study the status of Mo Yan’s writings in Vietnam, we have to mention this book, because it was welcomed soon after its publication in Vietnam, and drew lots of attention to Mo Yan. This phenomenon has never happened in Vietnam, and Mo Yan’s "Abundant Breast Fat Buttock" is unique. In this part, Mo Yan’s novels are compared with the other Chinese writers, so readers can get a better understanding to the influence of the novel in Vietnam. The fourth chapter mainly analyses the novel "The Sandalwood Punishment". From this novel, readers and researchers can imagine the past days of Vietnam society, and Mo Yan’s style is different from other works. A story about a nation is well worth to read. Later, "The Transparent Carrot", "Red Sorghum", "Life and Death are Wearing Me Out", etc. were translated in Vietnam, but the "The Sandalwood Punishment" still left a deep impression on Vietnam readers. Vietnam readers found a lot of questions, such as "why there is so many interesting stories in Mo Yan’s works", and "Why Northeast township life in Gaomi Shandong is so rich and colorful" and so on. In the ancient Chinese society, there was a very elegant literature and art which was "killing art". Through research on this novel, we found that in any age or any place, every nation has a history of darkness. "Killing for fun", "Murder" also exist in Vietnamese literature, and we can also find a lot of work about the cruelty of the execution in the history of world literature. In this chapter, Mo Yan’s "The Sandalwood Punishment" is compared with other works about the cruelty of execution. The fifth chapter, we mainly analyze Mo Yan’s novel "Frog" and some other novels. In October 2012, Mo Yan won the Nobel Prize for literature, and the news made the whole literary world excited. From then on, Mo Yan became the first Chinese writer awarded the Nobel Prize for literature. "Frog" is considered as Mo Yan’s best novel, so it is definitely to be mentioned here. In the fifth chapter, I also discuss the suggestions of Vietnam research experts and readers and things about Mo Yan won the 2012 Nobel Prize. It is also very important. A writer can get the title of honor in the world is very great, especially for Chinese, for the country has waiting for it for a long time. Each nation in the world has such a desire, and how ordinary readers and experts view Mo Yan’s winning is a very special kind of culture.
