A New Study Of Yan Yan-zhi

This paper is to provide a new study of Yan Yan-zhi, the famous writer in Liu Song Dynasty. We will go deep into Yan Yan-zhi’s life, and come to know the history of his criticism, so to make a comprehensive understanding of Yan Yan-zhi.The preface is to introduce the state of study of Yan Yan-zhi, and put forward the purpose of this paper, and the basic method we have used in our study.The first chapter discusses the life of Yan Yan-zhi.Then, we give an introduction of Yan Yan’s literary creation.The Chapter Ⅱ is focus onYan Yan-zhi’s thought. Yan have the academic background of Confucianism, Daoism, Buddha,and so on.We think it is the recognition of the three parts in his thought. Although hehad an appreciation on metaphysical issues, he is still vested in the root of Scholars in Chinese thoughts.The third chapter is about Yan Yan-zhi’s thought about Buddhism. Yan Yan-zhi and He Chen-tian repeated a discussion about Buddhism. So it is a good opportunity to understand the thought of Yan Yan-zhi, we generally can grasp the basic outline of Yan Yan-zhi’s thought. Yan Yan-zhi’s thought is the mixture that there are Confucianism, the new Daoism Theory, and Buddha.But eventually he was a Believer of the new Daoism Theory. In a sense, he can be regarded as the end of the new Daoism Theory.The fourth chapter is aboutYan Yan-zhi mentality. Yan Yan-zhi’s behavior forms a sharp contrast, only by its mentality understanding to resolve this paradox. Yan Yan-zhihad a good Friends Tao Yuan-ming. Tao had a great influence on Yan Yan-zhi. Then, there are other people who affected Yan Yan-zhi mentality, Qu Yuan the famous ancient poet, and seven poets so called Qi Xian. A lots of works explore Yan Yan-zhi’s mentality change. As a result, Yan Yan-zhi selectedthe one of the seven poets as his model, Ruan Ji.His poetry also behaved convergence to the side of his models.The fifth chapter is the Yan Yan-zhi poetry research. This article specifically discusses the development ofhis poetry, to study the perspective of Five Characters Poetry development as a starting point, how the creation of a new body of poetry.The Five Characters Poetry perspective to examine the Yan Yan-zhi poetry, we found the creation of Five Characters Poetry embarked on refinement and literati, and to create a new style of a Five Characters Poetry.The sixth chapter is the study of literature criticism on Yan Yan-zhi’s works. Through the Chinese literature history,we sum up the criticism on Yan Yan-zhi’s works, to study his literary status, and characteristics of his poetry, the impact on future generations, the original appearance of Yan Yan-zhi in the literary history in china.
