The study on colloquial words of Song Dynasty notes belongs to Chinese chronology lexicon field, which takes Song Dynasty notes as the core corpus, collects and classifies the colloquial words in Song Dynasty notes.According to lexicalization, grammaticalization, cognitive linguistics and other theories, the research makes a theoretical explanation of formation, motivation and meaning of colloquial words, which is helpful in understanding the basic situation of usage and development of Song Dynasty colloquial words, and enriching Chinese lexical history research.Chapter 1 Introduction. In this part, the present author introduces the research object, significance, current situation, and basic methods of colloquial words of Song Dynasty notes, discriminates the concepts of notes and colloquial words, defines colloquial words in Song Dynasty notes, word part in saying, and dialectal words closely connected with colloquial words as the research objects, and discusses the corpus value, linguistic value, folklore value of notes colloquial words research, and its significance on Song Dynasty language research and dictionary compilation.Chapter 2 Classification of colloquial words. In this chapter, the author classifies and analyzes both the new colloquial words in Song Dynasty notes and the old colloquial words with new changes of meaning and usage in Song Dynasty, and makes a diachronic study of some colloquial words in the development of Chinese lexicon, especially extending the appearance of the colloquial words and their following development after Song Dynasty. Then the author explores fully and sorts out some or some type of colloquial words, and forms the systematic recognition of the development of colloquial words.Chapter 3 Investigation of formation methods of colloquial words. The study analyzes the characteristics of word formation of disyllabic and trisyllabic colloquial words. The formation methods mainly include compounding, reduplication and derivation. The compounding contains paratactic, verb-object, subject-predicate, modifying and supplementary types. The changes of meaning and usage of the reduplicative colloquial words are analyzed, and the role of derivation in the formation of colloquial words is also discussed.Chapter 4 Analysis of formation motivation of colloquial words. The author puts the emphasis on discussing the relationship between exterior form and interior meaning of colloquial words. When exploring the formation methods of colloquial words, the author makes a multi-angle analysis of the formation motivation of colloquial words from the aspects of the linguistic factors (phonology, font and abbreviation), other factors (cultural system, social customs, and historical allusions) and the influence of "accepting what is wrong as right when one grows accustomed to it" on the formation of colloquial words.Chapter 5 Formation and changes of meaning of colloquial words. Emphasizing the meaning of colloquial words, the author analyzes the formation of meaning of colloquial words based on two methods:borrowing and derivation. The changes of meaning of colloquial words include generalization and specialization, grammaticalization of notional words, lexicalization of phrases, and the effect of rhetoric on meaning. Then the author discusses and explains the changes of emotional meaning besides the changes of rational meaning of colloquial words.Though it is relatively late for the researchers to study Chinese colloquial words, there is great development in textual criticism of meaning, etymology tracking, sorting of entries, and dictionary compilation Moreover, the revision and sorting of Song Dynasty notes, and abundant electronic publications and network resources provide beneficial references and advantages for the present research. Based on the affluent research corpus, the thesis makes a special study on colloquial words in Song Dynasty notes by combining static description with dynamic analysis, diachronic corpus with synehronie corpus, internal factors with external factors. Firstly, by systematically studying the corpus of Song Dynasty notes, the thesis explores the general rules of development of colloquial words, which is helpful to make an overall evaluation of language development in Song Dynasty. Secondly, the thesis makes a systematic sorting, objective description and theoretical explanation of colloquial words in Song Dynasty notes, and enriches the research space of Chinese colloquial words by changing the deficiency of the past Chinese lexical research that put emphasis on the elegant speech and ignored the colloquial words, and of the past Song Dynasty notes research that put emphasis on literature and history, and ignored the language, and walking away from the narrow research field that stressed on meaning explanation and clearing. Thirdly, the thesis takes colloquial words in Song Dynasty notes as the research object, and makes an exhaustive study of the colloquial words, other corpuses in Song Dynasty, and the earlier and later materials connected closely with the development of colloquial words, which is of great significance for the research on history of Chinese language and lexicon.
