It is very difficult for foreigners, who start learning a new language to avoid mistakes, especially grammatical errors at beginning stages. It is obvious that Vietnamese and Chinese languages have many similar characteristics as they both belong to isolated languages, they have no morphological changes, and their basic grammar particularities include the use of word orders and function words... Vietnamese language also has similar tones compared to the Chinese ones; therefore Vietnamese students almost have no difficulties in learning Chinese pronunciation. In addition, Vietnamese language on the way of development has been heavily influenced by Chinese language, especially Chinese words.Due to so many similarities between the two languages, it is easy for Vietnamese students at beginning stages to be confused when learning Chinese language and considering Chinese grammar system similar to Vietnamese. All these factors could lead to inevitable serious mistakes by students. They may suffer many difficulties in learning Chinese language grammar and make errors in speaking and writing.Mistakes in learning Chinese language grammar may be caused by language interference. The habits of using Vietnamese grammar are applied by students in learning Chinese language and they pay most attention to the similarities between the two grammar systems. For many years, the Chinese Department in Hanoi University has used for teaching the textbook "Mandarin Chinese Language Course" by Ji Zhou Yang under the publication of Beijing Language University. The book remained the key course book of Chinese language teaching for first-year students. This textbook includes 6 volumes, of which the basic grammar teaching is concentrated on the first four books and pronunciation practice is considered as the biggest difficulties for first-year students because classroom time is lasting so long, therefore students pay less attention to Chinese grammar system.During the teaching we have recognized more than 1,000 basic grammar errors made by our students. We are trying to classify and group theses errors into 36 key difficult cases of Chinese language grammar for Vietnamese students to learn. We conducted surveys to clear out the reasons for Vietnamese student mistakes in learning Chinese language grammar and go to some conclusions. The first reason refers to orientations of grammar teaching in the textbook Mandarin Chinese language Course. There is a shortage of comprehensive and overall grammatical system presentation. The second reason relates to teacher mistakes. Some teachers do not pay enough attention to teaching Chinese grammar system for their students at beginning stages. They do not explain students fully and concisely how to use each Chinese grammar phenomenon, especially its particularities. To solve these problems, it is essential to answer some questions:How to teach Chinese language grammar for students at beginning stages in the most effective way? How to figure out all difficulties of Chinese language grammar system to students for a more intensive teaching? How to find out and improve strengths and weaknesses of Chinese language grammar system presented in the textbook? How to help students to identify Chinese grammar characteristics and avoid errors? All recommends mentioned above explain why we have chosen the subject "Analytical Surveys on Vietnamese student error levels in learning Mandarin Chinese language grammar and some teaching strategies"The content of the thesis includes 6 chapters:Chapter 1:Introduction to the subject (reason for choosing subject, main orientations of study, scientific values of study, summarizing previous studies, objectives and methods of study...)Chapter 2:Theoretical backgrounds of the study.
